The D53E may well be an European model but have you tried contacting JVC US?, as this problem also affects a large range on models in the US, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand, that is as well as many other non-English speaking countries. The important aspect about getting the repair carried out is, that you "MUST" be the original purchaser of the camcorder and have documentary proof of this fact.
