The symptoms you describe can be a normal occurrence with digital reception being interfered with, from whatever the source. If your TV does not have a digital tuner then its the cable box at fault, but I would leave it a few days to verify its not the service provider having a temporary glitch with their equipment rather than the actual box being faulty.
