Bob, I've had the same problem with my DSCW55 Cybershot. Do you know if this fix will work? I called Sony and they had me send it to a repair shop who then informed me it was impact damage and, therefore, voided the warranty. And yep, it would cost $111 to fix. Or I could have them send it back to me unrepaired, which is what I'm doing anyway. I'll certainly try it when I get the camera back. If it works, I'll declare you a demi-god!

Btw, do you give it the three raps while on or off?
