I had this problem with my DSC-P73 Sony Cybershot. I wanted to use a 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo (using an adapter to fit my camera), but my camera would display the C:13:01 error. So I did the eraser trick (cleaned the memory stick gold-plated contacts AND the adapter contacts too) and it worked perfectly. =) And I also formatted the memory stick using Windows XP via an USB memory card ready (format to FAT file system, not FAT32), so I guess that helped too.
