I am having the same problem with my JVC DVC. It is Model No. GR-D270U /Serial No. 179V0667. It is not being recognized by my computer. I am running XP and I get nothing. No window for found new hardware. I got it as an out of box special so I was not able to get an owners manual for it. Have you gotten your problem fixed Ram? Do you have any suggestions? I have a video on here that I really want to publish online and I am being stymied at every turn. If you or anyone can help me it would greatly appreciated.

I have a JVC GR-D30U I am getting a lens cap error. Is there any tricks I can use. Thank You.
I also have another of the same model, that had a codensation error, i pulled the camera apart, unplugged the main connecter, reset the camera and fixed the condesation error but now the zoon and auto focus do not seem to line up or work properly, its almost like the zoom button is out of alignment with the actual zoom of the lens, and the zoom on the lens makes a clicking noise.

Gert-Jan de Vos - 15th Sep 2005 20:22 Hi,
I had the LENS CAP error on my JVC GR-D70 camera. I now solved this myself and I like to share my experiences for your benefit. After some google-ing I found that this is a common problem for just out of warrantee JVC camera's. It also seems to originate in the CCD part. JVC repairs this problem by replacing the CCD which seems to cost about half the new price of the camera. Then I found this:
http://www.eserviceinfo.com/equipment_mfg/JVC_16.html
Here you can find the service manual for several JVC cameras available for download. I studied the manual for my camera and came to this conclusion:
The CCD chip is soldered onto some flexible PCB that doubles as a flat wire connector to the main PCB. Soldering the 14 solder joints form part of the assembly process of the camera. This means the connections are manually soldered and therefore probably a weak point in the camera's circuitry. I then took apart the camera by following the clear service instructions from the manual and located the CCD part under suspicion. On my model, you'll find it right behind the viewfinder part, under a sticky isolation pad. The 14 solder joints are easily accessible. I carefully resoldered all connections, double checked that I made no shorts between adjacent joints and put the camera back together. I put the battery back in place switched on and to my pleasant surprise, there was a perfectly fine image!
For completeness: I also unplugged the connector on the main PCB side of the CCD wire and reinserted. This could be enough to get it going again, you may try this first. A second problem was the viewfinder that got stuck inside after my 3 year old son gave it a smack. By following the disassembly notes in the service manual I could find and repair the cause of this mechanical problem rather easily.
Concluding, the CCD wire connection CN1b, Fig. D1 and CCD BAORD ASSEMBLY Fig.2-6-1 seem to be badly connected and cause the "LENS CAP" problem with these cameras. Since there is no CCD signal available to the camara, the software concludes the lens cap must be still on. Effectively, other than the actual live image, everything else is working fine with a camera in this condition. In my case, resoldering the bad connections fixed the problem (for now). But be careful: only do this if you are experienced and feel confident with soldering small scale electronics. The connections are really small and close together, it is hard to see by naked eye what you are doing. Double check for short circuiting the connections before you put the camera back together or you may create further damage.
Maybe this can help somebody fix this problem like I did.
Greetings,
Gert-Jan

I need to repair a vertical collapse problem on a JVC built TV. It is a Sears model 509-14370 built by JVC. Please let me know if you have any service manuals and schematics.
Thanks, C Kochen

Jill - 27th Aug 2005 18:27 My Sister has a JVC AV 56P575 that she got last September. As we were watching the TV, it turned off. We checked the outlet, and it still works.
When we plug the TV into a different outlet, the power light on the front of the TV briefly lights up, and the TV makes 3 clicking noises, and then it turns off (and the TV still doesn't turn on). It sounds like the Relay for the power supply might be messed up.
We've checked the fuses on the TV, and they all seem to be fine. Do you have any suggestions for what we should do?
Thanks!

I have a JVC GR AX841, There is no display in the veiw finder. Everthing works play, record, FF, REW, and all can be monitored on a tv screen but nothing in the veiw finder. If I use my computer to monitor what I record I can see the video on the screen, nothing in the veiw finder. I don't see the menu, none of the menu displays, all I can see is a white screen.
Thanks for your advice rappatobey@yahoo.com

Cristina - 29th Aug 2005 2:37 Hello, I have an old JVC AV-3551S Colour TV. It works well except for the picture. When you turn it on the picture shows for maybe two minutes and slowly fades until it's pitch black. The audio still works but there's no picture. We're thinking it's the colour tube but do they even still make the parts for such an older model? Please reply. Thanks
