I AM HORRIFIED!!!!!!! I HAD SAME PROBLEM. ....... TAPPED TWICE HARD ON SILVER METAL STRIP THAT RUNS ALONG SIDE OF CAMERA AND NOW ITS PERFECT AGAIN!!!! HA HA CANNOT BELEIVE THAT WORKED - BRILLIANT! X

Oh LOL...had the same problem with my Sony DCR-DVD205.....when I smacked my camera the 61:10 error was still there....then my hubby gave it some real good smacks on the table....error was gone....will save me a lot of money to get it repaired by Sony....thanks!

We have Sony dcr-dvd201 with a E:61:10 fault code and we were surprised with the kind of solution you propose but before throwing it away we decided to check (with nothing to lose), and surprise it worked perfectly!!!! after a series of blows from the camera firmly against a table with a book on top.

it works! it works!!!!! but you have to hit it quite hard (on the side) the error just went away... i will let you know if it comes back, but thank you all for posting this!

It works like a charm but whenever i zoom right out it comes back :(

UN~FREAKIN~REAL .. IT WORKED! about a week ago I had the same problem with a Sony Handycam (DCR DVD108) I set it down thinking I'd have to have it fixed, battery was week so I left it to charge. checked it again a bit late and it was fine, today the problem cam back and I found this forum and figured it's already broke, how much worse could it get, (and still tryed it anyway LOL)!! I gave it a couple of sharp, two finger raps right in front of the view finder and VIOLA! YUP just like Dad's TV ,, thats freakin GREAT!
