Re: JVC GR - DVL300

Juan Carrera Posted Apr 10, 2004, in response to:Paul

Forgive the interruption, but a group of almost 50 of us JVC camera owners are planning on taking JVC to court via a class-action lawsuit. If interested, I can give you more details if you email me. Basically, we all have one of some 23 camera models that show the E04 / REATTACH BATTERY / UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE problem, and believe this problem has been known to JVC for years and still they expect people to pay for repairs.

I keep seeing class action suits against JVC for the safe mode problem but is anyone ever going to do a suit for the lens cap / CCD problem? Sony has already been sued for this very same thing. Since most of these CCD's are manufactured by Sony why hasn't someone figured out that Sony should pay for all our repairs? At the very least isn't it logical that if Sony's parts are defective in Sony's cameras they're probably bad in JVC's cameras, too? Not directing this at you personally. Just very frustrated that I have to pay $150 to fix my CCD on my gr-df430us when about 30 other JVC models can get fixed for free. Used the thing only twice! You know where I can find a suit for the lens cap error? Darlene

I had the same problem today with my JVC GR-D72U. I sell electronics and I hadn't heard of this problem before. I can guarentee JVC will never get a recommendation from me again unless they take care of this problem.

What happened in regards to this situation? I have the same problem with my camera and haven't used it for a year because of that. I would appreciate if you let me know what is going on. Ingrid

I have a JVC MINI-DV Gr-DVF 31 that is flashing the E-04 light no matter how many times I try to remove the battery, it doesn't work. It was taping fine then all the sudden this error came on. I would like to join your lawsuit if at all possible. Sincerely, Joshua Reddick

Hi, I purchased a JVC camcorder GRD-22U 8 months ago, probably have 2-3 hours of recording time on it. I took out the camera to take it to the hospital to record the birth of my first baby and it kept showing me a lens cap error. I tried everything other people recommended, taking out the battery for 1 hour etc... NOTHING WORKS!! I refuse to try stuff like hitting/shaking the camera....lest JVC accuse me of causing damage to the unit....I talked to the service technician and they say they will charge me labor (initial 65 $ for just looking at the unit and who knows how much more for the time spent fixing it) Saving grace the Parts will be free.....becos Iam within the warranty period.... I dont think we should be paying for JVC'S poor quality and workmanship. Especially since JVC seems to be aware of the junk they are selling and continue to do so. I would definitely like to join the class action suit.... wish i could do more and boycott JVC products.... WILL start with my family and friends. Regards. arun dsouza frustrated consumer

I have a JVC camera GR-SXM250U I have had the reattach battery warning and other problems. Now I have no resoultion in the record mode. It is all a blur when I try to record. I have not recorded more than 1 to 1.5 hours with this thing. I will join a lawsuit, gladly.

I would love to join this lawsuit. We purchased our JVC Camcorder and within a year it went into safemode. By the time I sent it into JVC they wanted over $400.00 to fix it. I had them send it back to me and it is currently sitting in my closet unused. A total waste of money!!! Tricia
