I have both the Mavica FD100 and the CD500 currently, and have owned 3 mavicas previous to these. I stopped using the FD100 over a year ago because it makes recording noises then produces the C:13:01 format error every time I take a picture and it tries to save the image. I have never used the memory stick nor do I own a memory stick. Is there a solution to this problem? The more current problem, is with the CD500, Sometimes the C:13:01 disc error flashes after taking some picture and then trying to look at them later. This is beginning to happen a little more often now. It also will take pictures, and when I finalize, some cant be opened and are lost. I have heard that this is a problem with the camera's reaction to certain brands of mini-cd. Can you shed any light on either of the problems I have had. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some people do have problems with certain brands of mini-CDs, but this is not the most common cause. What actually happens is that the mechanism that moves your laser back and forth across the CD in order to read it will become bent or (rarely) worn. If not repaired, you'll get that error more and more often until it quits working altogether and that dreaded error code is all you ever see. The camera needs to be disassembled to the point where there mechanism is, repaired, and then put back together. Eureka! No more error C:13:01! We have repaired several of these CD models, with the CD1000 being the most popular one to have trouble. Contact me, and we can get it taken care of. A Sony service center will often charge around $300 or more, but most we have been able to repair most of the CD model cameras for $50 to $75.

I can fix this error for users in canada that do not wish to send their camera to the states for repair.
I am located in Ottawa and am an electronics technologist with all the necessary tools to do the jobs. I charge $60 for the service plus shipping.

I have a Sony Mavica FD-100 that I have not used in over a year because one day it started making loud continuous recording noises before producing the C:13:01 format error message everytime I take a picture. I have never used the memory stick and I do not own one. I also own a CD500 which has started producing the C:13:01 disc error message after trying to review a previously recorded picture, thus making the disc un-useable. It does not happen every time, but it is happening more often now. I also find that sometimes, when reviewing pictures that have been taken and disc finalized that some pictures end up being corrupted and cannot be viewed other than thumbnail. I have heard that these problems are with the way that the camera reacts to certain brands of mini-cd. Can you shed any light on either of my camera problems? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jim

Hello, I own a DSC-S75 since 2 1/2 years and have problems to read the MS. I first get the message "acces memory stick", but after a short time the famous message error appears. I think the camera can't read the stick. Trying to format the stick by the camera isn't possible...can't read the stick. I already tried to fix it by opening the camera but I was afraid to damage some ribbons etc... Hope you can give me some tips to fix this problem, with regards, Randall

I don't work on type camera but I know memory sticks go bad too. Have you used more then one MS in the camera or the MS in other cameras?
- Re: Re: Re: Re: SONY C:13:01 ERROR
Randall - 30th Aug 2004 13:32 Yes, I īve used more MS in the camera (DSC-S75) and after the error my MS in the P-73.Without any problems..

Todd Younkin - 24th Dec 2004 18:21 To fix format C: 13:01 errors, simply put your memory stick back into your camera and format it again. Don't use your PC to format it. Use the camera. I have a MVC-FD100 and I fixed the problem myself.

- Re: Re: Re: SONY C:13:01 ERROR Sarah - 17th Dec 2004 18:23
C:13:01 is most often a problem with the mechanism that moves the laser in the camera back and forth the reads/writes to the CD. This can be fixed and doesn't take very long. I have repaired several of these cameras (the CD1000) in particular, for $49.95, plus to/from shipping. If you are interested in discussing it further, you are welcome to contact me.

Mike Paladino - 10th Nov 2005 16:36 Sarah, I have a Sony MVC cd-1000 w/ the c 13:01 error
Please send me the address to which I should send the camera for repair. Do you own a legitimate camera shop? How can I be sure I will ever see my camera again. Please inform me a little.
Thanks!
