Sony Trinitron TVs

anonymous Posted Dec 31, 2004

"The Petition":

My family has a Sony Trinitron TV (Model Number KV-35V36) that was purchased in 1998. It too, like so many other of these TVs suddenly turned off and died. Over the years, we have bought many Sony products and have had little problems. However, this television "epidemic" is a major issue and one that must be dealt with and solved. Therefore, I propose this; ANYONE WHO HAS/HAD A PROBLEM WITH A SONY TRINITION TV, PLEASE POST YOUR NAME, MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBER ON THIS WEBSITE, WHERE I WILL PLACE THEM ON A PETITION TO BE E-MAILED/MAILED TO SONY. They might be able to ignore one of us, but they can't and WILL NOT ignore all of us. -Thank you

Please let me know how we can help. Our 40" Trinitron would not come back on today. Makes on noise and immediately clicks off leaving the stanby light flashing.

I had bought a sony TV9 kv ??????. sorry don't remember the modle #. Within the first 6 months The picture went black and was told by an independent service man (not sony/not sears )that the picture tube was gone. we bought another sony trinitron wega (KV 27V36)-which the on/off power button was gone. Sent it for repairs (sears). This took over 2 months to bring the tv back. However (although they deny it) they dropped the tv and the front and case was cracked. Now the picture is a bit green/blue on the sides and there's a hum in it-which the service man could not see nor hear. I complained so badddddd to sears and sony called head office for sears and got a replacement tv. (KV 27FV17) Now with all that said , the tv is about 6 years old and just recently has a black picture again!!!! and great sound. This has been 3 sony's since 1998.like the tv's don't last at all. I'm looking for some help to repair it, or I'm tossing it out, I'm not going through any more crap with the sony tvs. THEY ARE DEFINATELY "NOT" BUILT TO LAST thankyou for letting me vent FR: frustrated

I am having the same problem as everyone else. Please, someone tell me that Sony takes this problem seriously. I have a Sony WEGA Trinitron KV-36HS510. It was working fine this morning. Went for a few hours came back to turn the set on and nothing. The 'Stand-By' flashes 7 times. I have read everything from unplugging the set for 24hrs to replacing the High Voltage Box (?). Who knows? Has Sony responded to anyone? Thanks.

My 5-year-old, $2100 KV-40XBR800 just died today; the same problem as everyone else. Sony used to be the gold standard in TVs (older ones lasted 15 years or more); now I hear it's Samsung.
