We've been dealing with the same thing on our kv-40xbr800 for the last week. Randomly works when turned on with the standby light blinking 6 times. I have figured out a way to bypass it for now but am waiting for the service technician to make a diagnosis. Not sure this is good or how long it will buy me, but, I am not powering off and on the tv, just the cable box and home theatre. Seems to be working so far. Also, we didn't have any problems until the day after we had strong storms with lightning and power surges last week. Is there any group who tracks the number of service calls for a particular problem? Seems to me they ought to be making a recall on their product.

Sony Trinitron Wega. 5 years old. My picture still works, but one of the speakers has gone out. We hooked up our Bose to it last night and are now using that for the sound.

I also have a sony trinitron tv not sure of the model but i had it all of a sudden turn off on me and the sleep timer light blinks at me and it makes clicking noises makes it sound like it wants to turn but nothing i have had it unplugged for four days ad tried to turn it on and nothing i unplugged al the cables today and will try to see if that works..has anyone got a resolution? Thank you for any help or if you know where i can find the serial num to maybe help get a solution

Last night my 27" Sony Trinitron made a sound and powered off. It would not power up. Any ides what could have happened. Thanks Shekar

Same power up issues, Sony 36 wega purchased 2002 standby light flashing but no picture sound or anything other than clicks when you try to power up, we did get it to come on once and decided to just leave it on this lasted one week.

Our trinitron was in the kitchen and used for viewing while cooking...now that the football playoffs and the basketball season is upon us we were used to this over the years. It just suddenly quit..you can hear it go on, but a timer/by pass light stays on and keeps blinking but the picture does not go on??????anyone else have this problem??????

Got up this morning and the tv will not turn on, up to this point we have not had any issues at all with it. It's a 32 in Trinitron, bought about 5 or so years ago. Reading all these posts I wonder if it's worth fixing or just heading out and getting a new one.

Sony Trinatron KV32XBR400. Was watching TV, picture and everything was just fine one evening. The next day the picture was gone - sound is still fine, can change the channels and everything, just no picture? Cost to replace the picture tube - over $1000 just for the part! Crazy!

I have a Mod#KV-24fv12, Ser#8064028. This was a great tv but it now has completely lost all picture and only has sound. I don't even know whether it is worth fixing. I truly believe that a tv that cost this much sholud have lasted more than 7 years.

We are having the same problem. It has turned off before and after a day or so we have been able to turn it back on. This time it will not come back on. I can't find the manual! Oh well, looks like we are not the only ones.
