Re[3]: JVC service or questions

The component is the C926 (labeled on the bottom) capacitor near the center of the circuit board chassis. It is a large cylindrical capacitor just to the right of center as viewed from the rear. De-solder it out and replace it with a 1000uf 35v or 50v capacitor from Radio Shack. The cap. you buy from Radio Shack will be axial leads, while the cap. you replace will have radial leads. Don't let this bother you just bend the leads to fit the holes and it will work fine. Pay attention to the polarity marking on the circuit board and the capacitor. You need to have a little experience in how to solder leads on a circuit board. If you have neve done such work, find someone who has. It is not difficult but you don't want to fry the component or screw up the solder joints of other nearby components.

Dave - 19th May 2007 3:16 Another JVC AV27985 fixed with the Radio Shack cap, 1000uf 35v in C926 slot!
Thanks for the post, I had same symptoms. TV was unplugged for a couple of hours and when I plugged it back in, there was no power to the tv, but the wall outlet sparked indicating power supply was ok.
Total cost: under $20, I had to buy a soldering iron, solder, desolder braid, and the $1.29 capacitor.

Dan - 17th Jun 2007 23:25 Thanks for the tip. I just finished replacing the capacitor in my 35" JVC tv and it works just fine. I'm sure i saved myself at least a couple hundered dollars by fixing it myself. Thanks again Dan

Joe - 22nd Jun 2007 2:29 I have the same problem with my JVC - AV 36260. I called a service agent today and was told the cost would be $195 + parts (Around $50 to $60 bucks for parts). I have never worked with soldering tools etc., do you think I would be in over my head trying to replace parts? I always heard it was dangerous to work with certain areas of the TV guts. Your thougths please.

Will changing this capacitor help with red and green diagonally lines across my screen? or is this something else I have to worry about. I have a AV-32F475 only 2.5 years old

Add another successful C926 replacement. My 32" JVC started turning itself off as soon as you turned it on. The red light would blink when you hit the button to turn on (both remote and on TV) and just as fast it'd turn off. Radio Shack had both radial and axial resistors so I got the radial.
Be sure to align polarity and have a soldering iron with enough wattage. My 12 watt wouldn't work so I bought a 45 watt. Also be sure to use proper solder for electrical work.
