My F717 worked fine after a sharp thump of the end of the lens into the carpet. Don't be afraid to beat on it a little. My wife had dropped it earlier when the error started to show up.

I have a sony dsc-f717 with the c:13:01:error,I just bang it a little bit.
or just let the camera drop on the carpet floor from 2 feet above carpet.
this problems happens all of the time on my camera, maybe the contacts inside the camera are a bit loose , who knows, but it works for me.

I had the same problem, attempted to reformat to no avail...then tried the crazy bending and squeezing option of the memory stick and to my delight it worked...go figure!

I'm Brazilian and i need your help.
My Memory Stick Pro Duo MagicGate SONY appears the "format error c:13:01".
First I format the MS in my computer before the message appears in the camera´s display. Please help me with a software to repair this problem, if it exist.

I got one with same error right out of the box, I heard a rattling noise inside the camera, I was able to shake it free, turned out to be a loose screw, worked fine as soon as the screw dropped out.
