Billy Bob - 4th Dec 2003 4:52 I have DSC F707, MEMORY STICK ERROR, C:13:01. I called the tech support (1-888-449-SONY, 24/7) After a few minutes chatting with a computer (yes, you catually talk to the computer) I finally got a live person who instructed me to turn ON the camera, press the MENU button and format my memory stick. Now, I know this is not how one would go about formatting a memory stick, but I nevertheless followed his directions. I turned the camera ON, and pressed the MENU button in the "Record Still Images" Mode (that's the one with a picture of a camera), and suddenly it started working. I don't know how, why, etc. but it started working, all my pictures were still on the momry stick unharmed. I post my "experience" due to the mysterious nature of the problem and not because I belive that pressing the MENU button will solve anything.

I am also getting the c:13:01 error message when I insert a floppy disc into my Sony MVC FD200. Would be grateful if you could give me the advice that Mike gave you as it's driving me to distraction. Am sorely tempted to take a hammer to it, but the memory stick works. Woe betide it if that fails too!
- BILLYBOB: SONY C:13:01 ERROR
Dave - 24th May 2007 22:25 This worked by not like mentioned; I lost 43 pictures, but gained a 128mb memory stick.
Good Luck all...

I've done what Deb suggested to no avail. Point of clarification. When speaking of the tabs on each end...we will refer to as the "rails" for the disk. Do you bend the side wall tabs or the tabs that are angled down? It does appear my disc is in on an angle witht the left side (as you look at the disk when it is engaged)up higher than the right. Suggestions?

Hi, I inherited a FD-91, and I immediately got the C:13:01 error. I kept on trying new floppies, formatting in the camera, and then the tab bending, without any fix. I got lucky and found one floppy that worked. The only thing that was different about this flopy is that when I tried formatting in on the camera, it took a while. This led me to an idea. I knew that all of the floppies that I had tried were not bad. I instead used a strong magnet and made one BAD. This time the floppy started the long format, and this time no C:13:01 errors. Hope that this helps someone

Billy Bob - 10th Dec 2003 5:23 So I got the C:13:01 error again. This time, I just inserted and removed the memory stick rapidly 10-20 times -- helped but I fear/know it will happen again.

John - 16th Dec 2003 1:09 Hi, This problem on the Sony's really sux. I'm a high school student and this problem has happened twice to me. The first time i called Sony and they told me to send it in. This was about 2 years ago. I got charged 300. The second time it fixed itself just by turning it off and i guess letting it cool for like 2 hours, and now literally right now i jsut got it again. So i started researching this crap, Sony needs to stop making crap.

SOLLUTION: had the very same problem, error 13:01 on my sony dsc p50 after formating the stick in my pc. Sollution for all these things is to reformat the chip. YOU DONT NEED A SPECIAL PROGRAM. My camera unfortunately has no firmware with a format option, so i tried the Windows ones to let this thing run. And it worked after these MAGIC WORDS: format y: /FS:FAT /A:8192 the y: is the driveletter for the chip in your pc and the important word is /A:8192 -- means that the clustersize on the chip has to be 8kB. The standart format in windows is using 512b clusters on a chip with these sizes.

Jay Trayall - 26th Dec 2003 0:25 Believe it or not this worked. I have a brand neww DSC-p92 and after reformatting in my sandisk reader, my 16mb and my 64mb memory stick did not work. After spending a few hours searching for the solution, this was my last resort and it actually worked. I only removed and reinserted about three times and it finally recognized the stick. Thanks Billy Bob! Re: SONY C:13:01 ERROR - Billy Bob - 10th Dec 2003 2:23 So I got the C:13:01 error again. Jan Luedemann - 8th Jan 2004 0:02 I have a new DSC-P32. Today I got the error message first time - in all of
my memory sticks. It was not possible to format the sticks in the camera.
Other formatting procedures does not work. A special software declared the
sticks to be OK, and saved the pictures.
The onliest successfully procedure was to insert one of the memory sticks rapidly for about 15 times until it works. After that all other sticks
worked also.
Thanks a lot.

Thank you Jay T. Jan L....I canīt believe It!! The error C:13:01 actually has an easy solution... luckyly i didnīt take my camera to any special service, i just found the answer here on internet. So i less thing i can do..is repeat the solution (that saved me DSC-P72): just take the memory stick off and re-insert it lot of times.. just keep doing it...until u solved the problem... thatīs all u gotta do guys.. thanks.. and goodbye.. :D
