Keith Wiggall - 26th Oct 2005 22:41 Hi,
I have a JVC GR-D20EK Digital Video Camera. It was working find until a few weeks ago, when the LCD and viewfinder stop working it displays lens cap on when it is not, that disappears after 5-10 secs to be replace by a blank screen with fine vertical color line on LCD, or black and white on viewfinder. the play back of old recordings on the screen is OK, but if you record you just get copy of the color lines explained above. Could the recording heads need cleaning? That the only thing I have not done as yet as I do not have a cleaning tape.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Keith

One of the speakers of my CA-MXC5BK does not get sound. It used to get sound on and off, and I often had to push the volume button on the stereo to make it work. It recently stopped working entirely.

You may already have found this out, but the fault you mention is a manufacturing defect known by JVC, (applies across a wide range of models) and who are offering a free of charge repair for this. (Both in the UK & USA)

Help. cannot open tape dirve.
I recently baought a jvc gr-dv500u off of ebay. It was a display model at a electonics store. So it had never been owned but used as a display. The auction stated the camera was broken. So i bougt it in hopes of getting it repaired. The problem is when ever you turn it on it display this message, E04 eject and reinsert tepe unit in safeguard mode. Ans the problem is when ever i try to even load up at tape, the main door opens but the tape "caddy" does not pop up or open for me to put the tape in. My geuss is some one when it was on display pulled or pushed the caddy in or out and jamed it up. I can pull it up manualy but it cant open it. Also it makes a noice like a motor is trying to open it but its not working. Please help. Also do yoo do repairs if i was to ship the item in? Im a little to far to drive out there. Thanks
Ok this is an update. I was able to "trigger" the mecanism that makes the tape caddy pop open. I put the tape in and close it. I try to slied the tape deck down to lock it in place and it wont go all the way down. I then take the tape out and try and now it still wont go down. This was not a problem at first until i got the tape caddy open and tryed to load the tape. Please help. Also does anyone now a place online where i can send in a camera and have it fiexed? Thanks

Sylvia - 30th Oct 2005 18:50 I bought last year in november the GR-D32 in Paraguay, normally there was 1 year guarantee, but the shop forgot to put it in the box! Return in France suddenly the message caps look appeared and unpossible to start filming! JVC Services in France told me that it was impossible to repair this model in Europe! My camera is brandnew, so I am now looking for different possibilities: 1. exist an adaptor for european TV system? 2. who will repair this little contact mistake? 3. how eventually change with another person this camera for one made for Europe? 4. I would also need a cable for relying at my PC 5. Who knows a contact mail with JVC motherhouse? Thank you for helping Sylvia

I have a 48" HDTV JVC. It is 1 1/2 years old. It will not converge and there is a swoop of purple at the top of the screen It has not be dropped or mishandle in anyway. It was fine one night, then it was like this the next morning. It just went out of warranty. If this is how JVC makes their products, I don't believe I would ever buy another or recommend anyone else to either,

Eleanor Siliati - 1st Nov 2005 21:51 I OWN A JVC DIGITAL CAMERA (GR-D30). AFTER CHARGING IT, I TURNED ON THE UNIT AND MY SCREEN IS BLACK, PAUSE IS WRITTEN ON THE SCREEN, AND "LENS CAP" FLASHES(AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE "LENS CAP" FLASHING WENT AWAY). I CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE IT OUT. IF I TRY TO VIDEO TAPE, THE PICTURE IS BLACK, BUT THE SOUND RECORDS FINE.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS?
THANK YOU.

tokk - 20th May 2006 23:29 I have the same problem with a gr-d53 from JVC. The camera is about 1 year old, I guess the ccd could be broken.

George Williamson - 24th May 2006 20:31 I have the same problem with my GR-D30. That is, when I turn it on to record, there is no video, just the (momentary flashing message about the lens cap), and any other menu features that happen to be in effect. It will record sound but no picture. I thought at first it was the battery. After lots of charging (and testing) I have ruled out the battery. For me this problem is intermittent. Sometimes when I turn it on to record, everything works fine. Next time-- nothing. I thought maybe temperature played a role. But that does not seem to be the case. This afternoon I turned it on to record and a picture came on momentarily, then immediately went to black (except for the menu).
The playback feature works fine, good picture and sound. Anything that was recorded when it was working correctly plays back fine. But only the sound plays back for anything that was recorded while it was not operating correctly.
Unfortunately it is now out of warranty.
