We have a JVC 27 inch model no. AV-27530 Serial No 159MO313---2 Days ago, after warming up, a black box appears in the middle of the screen- I have tried to remove it with the menu button---while in menu mode, the black box disappears, only to reappear when you get out of the menu mode. What is this and how can I get rid of the box? Thank you for any help you can give me.

You may have inadvertently turned on the "Closed Caption Text" mode. This inadvertently happened to me after I first hooked the TV up and was exploring its features - very frustrating as it is just aplain black box and the scant directions of the owners manual were unclear about this feature. I was looking for complaints of the picture being too dark with porr color quality, but found this black box complaint more than once. So don't feel too bad. Cycle the C.C. button on your remote until you see "Closed Caption Off" on your screen. The plain black box should then go away.

I was playing around with my tv trying to set the color when I got the same black box. I think that it has something to do with the closed captioned text. Make sure it is turned off. Hope this helps.

    Dear Stacy,

Please advise me on what to do with my JVC GRD70 Camcorder. The problem is the camera reads "Condensation Operation Paused" and will not do a thing. There is NO reason for any condensation to be in this camera, it has only been used a few times (purchased May 2003) and has been kept in its original box in a cupboard (not to cold or hot).

I understand this is very commom problem with this camcorder. Please help!

    Regards
    Doug

Hi I have a JVC GR-DX25EK when I go to film the lens cap covered sign stays on for about 10 secs then that dissapears and the macro sign (man and the mountain, I think its the macro sign) starts flashing at the bottom of the screen. The rest of the lcd screen is just black. It will record sound but obviously there is no picture.

Can you offer me any help please
    Kind regards
    Karl

I have had a AV-20CM6/AV television for several years. Great machine.

For a long time, the number of the channel I am watching appeared in the upper right hand corner of the screen---a feature I liked.

Then it changed. The number appears for a few seconds and disappears.

I have nearly worn the instruction book out, trying to see how to reverse this, but I am stumped.

    Can you help me?

How can I restore the channel number to the screen?

    Thank you!

    John Soltman

Hey, This has been a great little tv for us too. My daughter has the same model tv, but we have no maunal at all. Was trying to find a pdf on line but to no avail :( Sorry I cant help you, but I also have a problem. She recently moved to pittsburgh and the channels we programed were for our area. She does not have cable there, so I tried programming some new channels. I used the function button, cable or air, but the up and down arrows only switch me between cable and antenna. I can not search for new channels to add. Either I have forgotten how to add channels or the feature is no longer working. Can someone help? The model is JVC AV-20CM6 Thanks!!

Apart from blowing "mildly hot" air into the open cassette holder for about 2 x 30 seconds (with break between) to help remove any possible oxidisation on the sensor, there is no easy fix to this problem. However if you are technically inclined and capable of working on small items of equipment please advise and I will send the procedure to desensitize the circuit.

I am having the same problem....will you forward the information on how to desensitise I will take the procedure and camera to someone who can do this procedure. Thanks

I saw a series of posts where people were having the "condensation error" on their JVC GR-D22U camcorder. I am having the same problem, and have been for about 1 year. I saw one "fix" that recommends taking out the tape and cleaning the black coating off the sensor inside the tape compartment with a damp q-tip. I tried it and it worked for about 5 minutes. Last year I read a procedure that involved undoing all the screws to open up the camera and unplugging something inside, but now I can't find that set of directions online. Now that my warranty is expired I have nothing to lose - except all the video I've shot thus far!! I hope you can help! Thanks, Maureen

I have a two year old GR-D22U mini DV camcorder and am experiencing the same problem that some of the others have written to you about. when camera function is on there is no picture in the viewfinder or the LCD screen and no video being recorded on tape. Playback works fine, it seems there is some sort of optics or electronic malfuntion. Please let me know if this is even worth spending the money on to fix it. I just had a new child and wouldn't you know it the camcorder QUITS!

    Thank you,
    T.E.B
