Re: FIX!!! for Self Diagnosis C:31:22
TJR - 15th Nov 2004 15:51
Had the same error message on my TRV-720, and could not come up with a solution for weeks until I found this website:
http://www.protechcam.com/wwwboard/messages/127.html
Now the fix you will not believe, nor did I at first, but requires you to power off the unit completely and "Smack it" a few times fairly hard. Now you may do this at your risk, but I swear it fixed mine and all the other people listed at the above web site. I thought it was a joke - but it works!!
Good Luck! TJR

Check out this discussion thread on the topic.
Be sure the check the rubber roller inside that is used for the tape tension.

I/m an IT/Process (Mech engineer) control person with an engineering background, when you suggested knocking it a few hard times it took me back to the old engineering joke of getting out the hammer and giving it a good knock.
It worked, missed some great footage back visiting the family but at least I have a fix. How did yo work out that this would fix the problem??
Thanks again

Craig Butfoy - 19th Aug 2006 4:39 O my God....! I have been reading these replys with amusement, and then the more I read the more I had to believe it was true. I have an old PC6, awsome little handheld about the size of your palm with touchscreen controls. Like you I thought it had, had it and was time for a new one.
And low and bloody behold, a few taps on the floor and hey presto, we're back in business. Unbelievable. You are an absolute STAR. Thanks. Craig Butfoy - London UK

You have got to be kidding me. I thought you were all crazy but I had nothing to loose I was getting ready to slam my camera against the wall because of this tupid C:31:32, so I hit it a few times with my palm and nothing, then I hit it again one time on each side and on the top and bottom, and now it is working just fine. Who would have thought. Thanks
- Thanks for save me lots of money witn my Sony CCD-TVR118
IAB - 24th Sep 2006 18:59 My english isn't good but only have to say Thanks! I didn't try to smack my camera yet but I'm hoping that works on my too, because I already tried to many things and nothing... I was thinking 10 minutes ago that I needed a new camera, now I know that if I decide to buy a new one, never it's going to be from that company!!! I hate them...

Neil Baker - 9th Oct 2006 10:06 Many thanks to everyone who's posted on this site. You've all saved me an absolute fortune!!!!
A couple of slaps to the side of the camera has done the trick. Good job too - it's my daughter's birthday today and I've been trying to get the camera to work all week.
Thanks again.
