      For Norma: You e-mail address did not work, hopefully you will check back here: Sony DSC-S40 Quick Fix For the white/blank LCD screen issue Discovered by Bob Allen The Allens of Allentown, PA USA I recommend that you remove the batteries and make sure you replace them with fresh ones after you apply my “Quick Fix’. 1.   Holy cow, you're a genious!....something so simple you'd think sony'd put it in troubleshooting for such a common problem, but then i guess they'd miss out on their $111.00

Well, multiple Sony DSC-S40s worldwide exhibit this annoying white/blank LCD screen defect/problem and I discovered how to fix it for free.   Wow! Amazing! This is my 3rd Sony digital camera (stupid me!) and will be my last. At least for now it is working & in time for Easter too. Thanks so much for posting this solution ... Really didn't want Easter to go by without photos of the kids!!

  It worked for me as well.
  At first I shily tapped using my fingerstips... didn't work.
  Then I did just as Bob said "Smartly rap with nuckles..." only one was necesary and it is working again!
