  hi Bob ive had this camera for over three years and the screen has suddenly started going white and i have no idea what to do ..i tried your quick fix problem and still hasnt worked...i think i might be doing it wrong so could u please help me out and tell me again as to what to do. thanks

    Hi Ridhi: Well, sorry to hear the 'Quick Fix' didn't work for you. I assume that it is totally out of warranty so you will have to contact Sony about service. And it could be something else other than the Sony DSC-S40 white/blank LCD screen curse. Make sure you take the batteries out before trying my 'Quick Fix' again and make sure the batteries you put back in the camera are new. 1. Hold camera firmly in left hand. 2. Smartly rap front of camera with knuckles of right hand on the "Cyber-shot" logo. Let me know if this has helped. Regards, Bob The Allens of Allentown, PA USA

  I was just about to buy a new camera, when I noticed that lots of people were having the same problem as I was - a white LCD screen. I initially thought your solution was a bit crazy and I was quite shocked to see that it actually worked! I just love this camera and am glad that I don't have to buy a new one! Thanks!!!!! :)

    Hello Erin: You are certainly Welcome! Glad I could be of assistance. Glad to hear the 'Quick Fix' has come through again! Yes, I would have thought the idea was a tad looney as well except I had a Sony DSC-S40 with a blank LCD screen and didn't want to fork over the $111.00 Sony was asking for service. Especially since I do technical service type stuff for a living!! So...the 'Quick Fix' was discovered and I posted it here on Pechorin's Forum site with the hopes that if it worked for me, it would work for others. As you see by the responses, it does. And this from just the folks who took the time to reply. Some are so amazed that they were left in such a state of shock and joy they became semi-catatonic and clutching their now fixed Sony DSC-S40 could only think of taking more pictures.   Well I never...my camera's LCD screen just went white yesterday and was browsing to see if i could fix it, and there you are Bob! Fantastic! Don't know if it'll last but it did the trick! Thank you xx

My son's Sony DSC-S40 camera, the test subject for the discovery of the 'Quick Fix', had the 'Quick Fix' applied to it back in July of last year and is still working fine. While not scientifically accurate, I'm guessing that 99.9999% of the folks who take the time to reply say it has worked for them as well. Now that it is fixed, go forth and take more pictures!   I agree it works, just hold the camera in one hand and strike the camera (cybershot logo) with other.
