JVC repair assistance

If there is no tape in the unit and it is not accepting the tape in...I believe you need it looked at. If the mechanism (tape basket) is not engaging and you have reset the camcorder by removing & re-attaching the power source, then you have done all you can do in regards to troubleshooting. How old is your camcorder and where are you located?

Karen - 20th Oct 2004 20:28 I have a JVC 6 disk CD player XL-M417TN that will not eject magazine or open drawer for single disk. It makes a noise like it's trying to work but soon gives up. Any advice appreciated.

Disc is jammed.
Unplug. Use phillips screwdriver & remove 2 screws on either side & 2 screws on rear. Remove cover. Plug back in. *use care to avoid electric shock* Turn on. Using your finger slide the mechanical apparatus that is located on top of the transport, at same time depress eject button for single disc drawer. The disc will open up. Now you will be able to remove the 6-disc cartridge using the same method. At this time you will probably notice that one disc tray is missing, that is the jammed disc. Look closely & you will see it. Fiddling with it will loosen it up & it can be removed. After that it should work just fine.
Good luck.

I have a JVC BR-D40U Dockable deck that failed with a tape inside and a code readout of 33-1, Tape Unload Impossible. Does this sound like a major problem or something reasonable to repair?
Thanks, Bob Lawrence

Camera just died between shoots. No power from either 2 fully charged batteries and the power adapter. Have had camera for 6 months - lightly used. Still has vacation tape in it. Can it be fixed without destroying the tape?

this problem is due to an exposure of the dv (or tape) to a temperature too high or too low for a longer period of time; two or three days of room temperature (i.e. 18-21 degrees celcius) should bring the dv back to operational status
