Convergence problems on AV-48WP30
Mark Venable - 10th Apr 2005 4:23
Can't adjust the red horizontally
Convergenge went out suddenly about a week ago. I can adjust the blue horizontally and vertically. The red will only adjust vertically. However, the horizontal is way out of whack. Any ideas? Thanks

Monique - 28th Jan 2008 15:32 I am having the same problem with my JVC AV56wp74. The lines are off, double pictures and wavey in the top left corner. My set is only 4 years old. Seems to cost as much as a new flat HDTV.

Hi, I'm Having the same problem as Tracy on 48WP30. Red wavy rainbow lines across top left of screen, a bit of green and a little shadowing. Could anyone please send me the schematics and tell me how to fix this? How approximatively should it cost me to repair it ?
Thanks a lot for your support.

This guide has been done for about 2 weeks. If the guide has worked for you please post some feedback for the others. Thanks.

I'm having similar problems. I can't get the convergence set across the top or bottom the only ones that will line up are across the middle. The picture seems to bow from the top and bottom toward the middle causing double and triple images. Can you please send me the DIY guide also. Thanks in advance for the help.

My AV-48WP30 has suddenly developed a green convergence problem. I have taken the front off of the TV and inspected the convergence board and everything is tight. I see many people are just replacing a chip or two to fix the problem. Can someone help me with the schematic and what to look for? Thank you in advance.

Thanks so much Tracy and Eric for the schematics and guide. It worked perfectly. I ordered two 150s to replace the 110s ($21 with shipping) and bought a "5 piece basic soldering kit" from Radioshack for 7.99, some super thin 60/40 rosin solder and some desoldering braid. I have never soldered before this and I was able to do a clean job in about an hour. I suggest using desoldering braid (also called desoldering wick) for people who are new to the desoldering process as it was almost foolproof, very inexpensive (like $3) and requires no clean up. The only thing that confused me in the beginning was how to get the main Convergence board out from underneath the black plactic clips without breaking it (4 on one side and 1 on the other I believe). The trick is to pull all 4 clips back at once, lift up, and then pull the board horizontally out of place. I was a little afraid to do this in the beginning because the board seems fragile (so much weight with the 2 heatsinks and large components on top on such a thin board) but I was careful and it was no problem. My only question: now that the tv picture looks normal again with no crazy wavy red lines, it doesn't seem to be properly aligned. I have all perfectly white crosses on the 9 point convergence test, yet the picture seems a little sharp and jagged and maybe a hint overlapped (seen when looking at pure white lettering over black background in the beginning of a movie). Is there a more accurate convergence test I could do? Can I get rid of Velocity Scan Modulation and if so would the sharpness of the picture go away? I have ps2 hooked up through component cables and progressive scan enabled in the menu of compatible games and the picture still looks worse to me than a sdtv. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any help would still be appreciated.

REd sag in upper left corner. Unable to get red to converge at that end. No speakers near tv.
If anyone could email me the fix for this, appropriate parts to replace, install instructions, and finally convergence guide I would appreciate it.

Like everyone else, I have thin red wavy lines on my JVC TV (AV-56WP74). If you could send me the schematic and guide, I'd be very appreciative.
- Re: Convergence problems on AV-48WP30 Mike - 10th Sep 2006 12:29
I have the same problem as well. 48" JVC convergence is way out of wack. The only cross I can line up is the center. When TV is on the top of the screen saggs down. Could any one send me info on how to repair myself. Had to send the TV in for repair about a couple of years ago and the bill was around $500 for some kind of circuit board, thankfully it was still under warranty.
Much Appreciated.

I have the same problem with the av-48wp30. My blue color saggs down in the top left. Is there any components i need to buy to make it cheaper for a repairman to come and fix it so i would only have to pay labour? thanks.
