Can't adjust the red horizontally

Convergenge went out suddenly about a week ago. I can adjust the blue horizontally and vertically. The red will only adjust vertically. However, the horizontal is way out of whack. Any ideas? Thanks

I'm having convergence problems on the model JVC AV-48wp74 but it is the green lines. The red, blue works fine but the green won't line up it looks like it is sagging down from the top of the screen. Please help, send a repair manual, or schematics. thank you. can you send a copy to this email address too? khen874066@aol.com

I replaced the two STK392-110 with two STK392-150. Seemed to go fine. But when I plugged the board in and fired the TV back up, the speakers just made a popping noise and the blue light blinked. Then the board started smoking at around the R854 point. In an earlier post Eric mentioned replacing the six 1 watt resistors. Two questions. Could a bad solder point on one of IC804 or IC805 cause a resistor to burn out? Is there a standard ohm resistor I can buy at Radio Shack to replace the exisiting resistors? They all seem to have a different ohm rating and I'm a novice at this whole deal. I guess one more question. Could a fried resistor damage other components in the TV?

Board is toast. Anyone know where I can buy the SSB-5051A-M2 board? Partstore advertises it but doesn't have it in stock. JVC hasn't answered my question from 11/16/06.

Did you find a place to buy the SSB-5051A-M2 ? I think I need to buy this for my TV (the entire circuit board cracked). Does this come with the IC installed, or is it just the board? Would I need to buy anything else, or just install it? thanks JOHN

www.partstore.com or e-bay I had a problem with my TV colors not lining up. One day I turned it on and the green was out of wack. I checked this message board and replaced the STK chips, bad soldering and all led to me just giving up on that and buying a whole new Convergence Board ($185). I replaced the missing silver box on the new board and I just plugged this in and though now my Green lines up okay, my red is out of whack. Is there something I am doing wrong? Can anyone help me? Did i miss a step? Frustrated......Bruce

well people, it seems that i am not alone.
i cant believe that this is such a common occurance.

i emailed tracy asking for the guide, im just curious how much of a task this is for a rookie because i would definantly like to tackle this myself.

I replaced the two STK392-110 with two STK392-150. Seemed to go fine but....

after plugging the board back in I turned the TV on and none of the laps turned on. You could here a ticking and then after several minutes the power button started to blink. Seemed to go into safe mode wouldn't allow me to do anything not even power it off. Didn't see any smoke which I guess is a good sign. Has anyone else come across this problem. Do you have any suggestion. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, this is the same thing I am seeing! It looks like all of the wires are plugged back in correctly, but nothing except ticking and flashing power light...

Hey I'm having the same problem, blinking power light, with my crappy av-48wp30. Can you tell me if you had it fixed, what was the problem , and how much did it cost? I'm debating whether to sell or just get rid of it. Thanks

  • Re: Convergence problems on AV-48WP30 Rodney - 28th Nov 2006 22:42
    well i changed the stk392100 for IC804
and everything is the same as before

the problem isnt a rainbow effect across the top of the screen

in the convergance on-screen menu to line up the lamps, the red wont move left or right, it will move up and down. it is off to the left about 1 1/2". does anyone know what is causing this?

  • Re: Convergence problems on AV-48WP30 Rodney - 28th Nov 2006 22:49
    EDIT ABOVE^^^^ i changed the stk392110 not stk392100

also... here is a pic of someone elses screen. my tv does not look like this all my lines are straight. the red is just off to left and cant be adjusted side-to-side.

I picked up a 48wp30 from a friend, has similiar convergance issues to what everyone is describing.

I don't have the manual, so I'm not sure how to actually adjust the convergance via the on screen menu. I can select it, adjust the vertical convergance (but not the horizontal), but it does not seem to 'save' the adjustment.

Not sure if I am doing anything incorrectly, once I 'adjust' the convergance none of the buttons on my remote seem to save and take me back to the menu, hitting the menu button does nothing and if i hit exit, when i go back to the convergance adjustment none of my changes have been saved.

Am I doing something wrong ?
