Convergence problems on AV-48WP30
Mark Venable - 10th Apr 2005 4:23
Can't adjust the red horizontally
Convergenge went out suddenly about a week ago. I can adjust the blue horizontally and vertically. The red will only adjust vertically. However, the horizontal is way out of whack. Any ideas? Thanks

I hate to be a "me-too" but can someone please send me the how-to for fixing the convergence problem. Red convergence out of whack in the upper left and lower right. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, not a how-to. The schematic would be sufficient. Just need to locate the IC to replace.

Hello everyone. I am also having the same red convergence problems with the JVC AV-48WP30. Could someone please email me the schematics and/or manual or a guide to replacing the 110 part with the STK392-150 part. I read that when going to the 150 part, there is also a resistor change.
Any help with be appreciated. Thanks

I have replaced the chips, but now the overall height of the picture is too high on the screen. What is the best way to adjust it down?

I'm having the EXACT same problem on an AV56WP74 (56" iArt). The Green and Blue looks fine, but the Red is unable to converge horizontally.
Any help (schematics, etc.) would be great. Thanks!
Also has anyone else tried complaining to JVC? I did, but so far have been totally ignored. JVC has yet to even reply. It seems to me that if all of us are having the same problem JVC manufactured a defective product.

vI had a problem with my TV colors not lining up. One day I turned it on and the green was out of wack. I checked this message board and replaced the STK chips, bad soldering and all led to me just giving up on that and buying a whole new Convergence Board ($185). I replaced the missing silver box on the new board and I just plugged this in and though now my Green lines up okay, my red is out of whack. Is there something I am doing wrong?
Can anyone help me? Did i miss a step? Frustrated......Bruce

I have a AV-48WP43 I looked on JVC parts site and the 30 and 34 have the same board. can I please get the convergence info evryone has been speaking about, I have wavy red convergence. Also I noticed that on one post it said the 110's were replaced for 150's, I dont have 110' but I do have 150's (resistors), any reason for this???

Hello All,
I bought the AV-65WP74 about 3 years ago and just had the same red convergence problem. I am in Germany so I had to rely on a German repairman to resolve. He replaced both STK392-110s for about $180.00. I thought it was a bit too much at first but since reading the string, I think I came out alright. I guess it will depend on how long the fix lasts, it looks great now, but it just got fixed today. I really like the TV so I am glad it is working right again. Best of luck to you all and Happy Holidays

Hi Eric, I'm having the same convergence issue with my JVC AV-48WP30. The R842 resistor is obviously blown. Could you send me a copy of the schematics, I can't tell what type of resistor this is. Thanks! -Chris

It is a 2.2 Ohm 1 Watt resistor at 5% Varience. Look for 2 red bands followed by 2 gold ones on the replacement. I had a little bit of trouble finding one in Louisville. I finally got one at a place called "Master Distributors" for about 60 cents. I replaced mine with a 2 Watt resistor to hopefully prevent a future burnout.

I fixed this with no problem otis sent me a link to order the parts I spent like $40 bucks and removed the board from the front of the tv, its kind of fragile so be care full . also tvs can kill you so unplug and dont touch anything it can still bite unplugged. I de-soldered the 110"s got a cheep de-solder tool like a small turky baster from radio shack and resoldered in 150's and a new resisor and re placed all the wired plugs and it works Great ,, man i love the internet thanks for the help....

Eric sent me the files, I uploaded them on a website so he doesn't have to keep emailing them out.
Here is the website (this board wont let you paste websites so remove the spaces)
h t t p:// home.comcast.net/ ~dande76530 /Convergence.html
Then right click on each link and click "Save As."
Also, if you do a search on electronix.com for "STK392-150" you'll find the part for $9.99.
Good luck
