I purchased a SanDisk 256mb Memory Stick PRO for my Sony DSC-P71 Camera but when I inserted it I got a beep and a "memory stick error" message. Is there any thing that can be done to remedy this or should I return the memory stick?

Yes I returned the San Disc memory stick. I tried a Sony Memory Stick PRO and guess what? That did not work either!!!!!!! So I solved the problem. I BOUGHT A CASIO CAMERA INSTEAD!!!!!! Never me and Sony again!!!!!

I'm experiencing the same thing - c:13:01 error. I have a brand new Sony Cybershot T3, and it came with a 32MB memory stick duo. It's highly frustrating. I can't format it at all; I havent a clue where to go about it with the PC software.

If anyone has any clue with this model, I'll be extremely grateful. Thanks.

What a ridiculouse sugestion,bending/squeezing,highly sophisticated modern technology,so i just squeezed my memory stick pro duo,ha ha,unbelievably it worked.technical instructions as follows, squeeze between thumb & forefinger sides of stick & then the front & rear together & it worked for me,the stick now works fine, strangely though search as i tried,i could not find this solution in my cybershot manual lol.

I have a Cybershot T1. I tried formatting through the camera and PC, no luck. Even tried using the program memory stick formatter from the sony site. No luck there either. What worked was squeezing the stick and wiping it down.

I have read this tread about Error C:13=01
I received this error after formatting my 64 Mb Sony memory card in my XP computer.
After using prog Memory Stick Formatter from Sony still the same error.
After formatting Memory Stick in Sony Vaio, problem solved.

The best thing is to insert the memorystick many times rapidly in-out for a few times about 10 15 20 times. Then it is working again.

My company has a Sony DSC-F707 that suddenly stopped working. We tried three different SanDisk memory sticks and none of them were accessible. I read many posts here that mention someone dropping a camera, and then it starts working again. Well, I didn't want to drop this camera, so I gave it a gentle spanking. And it WORKED. Must be something loose in the circuitry, or maybe some dirt inside the thing. Whatever it was, it's working fine again.

Guys. I had the same problem and I followed the suggestion of shaking the camera and it did work. I just took the camera and started to bringing it back and pounding it few times to my chest and it started working. Thanks.
