SONY C:13:01 ERROR

I get error C:13:01 in SONY cyber short camera. PLEASE GIVER REPLY HOW TO REPAIR.

  I have a sony handicam, model DCR-DVD201. I went on vacation and made some movies. I was playing it back on the handycam when I was on vacation and I played it when I came home on the handycam and everything was fine. Then I went to play it on the dvd player and it would not work. I put it back into the handycam and it won't work then. Now I keep having an erro that says: C:13:00 and it show a picture of a disc with a circle and a slash that would represent that there is no disc there, it would keep flashing. I put the dvd in my computer and it show that the disc is full, but it just won't show. Please help me. It is the the dvd with the best views of the place I went on vacation and I would really like to show it to my family. Thank you so much. Happy Holidays.

  If you want to reformat your memory stick go to this Sony website and download the program that formats the memory stick. You will lose all the information on the memorystick, but you will be able to use it normally after you format it. My memory stick kept losing space so that I could only save 10 pics before it would run out of space, even though no other files were on the stick. After I reformated it, the entire capacity was usable again.

  well... im glad everyones had their share of camera fixes etc and all that cute stuff BUT i have a sundisk... which i cant find to save my- oh nevermind here it is, a sundisk 128Mb memory card and i havn't seen any fixes for it yet i tried the squeezing.. man do i enjoy the squeezing =\ and it didn't work i tried bending it a bit, hell i even tried breaking it in half... just kidding .> <.< and no success. My computer wont even read the memory stick, i tried that program badcopy and it wont pick up my memory card via the USB ports either and im blaming all of you.... i didn't say it was your fault i said i was blaming you... just kidding need a fixxx pronto my career not to mention my ass is on the line here
  
  now keep in mind i want to SAVE my pictures not format my memory stick and lose all of them because i know how to do that, figured it all out by myself, aren't you proud of me?

  I downloaded the mentioned program to format my 128MB memory stick, but when I tried running it it displays the following message:
  "Memory Stick is Protected", even though the tab in the back of the stick is in the write possition.

  try this.. it work out. take cassette head cleaner (alkohol), smooth cotton and needle. put on the gold contact, and wipe out slowly.

  I began receiving the same error after the MVC-FD83 was dropped. I researched the web for several days, and did not find much help other than reseating cables or formatting the disks. I performed all of the recommended "fixes" with no success. I emailed one site asking for a quote to repair the camera, and was quoted $ over $150.00. I felt that was too much, due to the age of the camera, and if I could not repair it myself, it would probably end up on Ebay as a Part-Only, because it has a good LCD among other usable parts. I determined that the drive must in fact be either damaged or too far out of alignment to function correctly. I decided to open the camera, and see what I could learn...I verified all cables were seated securely, they were. I verified that all "little" parts or the drive, i.e., heads, etc., were not damaged or shaken loose from the fall. All appeared OK. I then, very carefully, opened the floppy drive, being careful to no loose any of the tiny screws, nor to damage or bend the shield that protect the inner mechanics of the floppy, removing it so I could observe the internal functional parts. I careful performed an "open case" power on of the camera. The drive was in fact receiving power, I could hear the drive try to function, but I found something very interesting. The heads were not indexing when the camera booted. Knowing that they should, my only conclusion was that the heads were jammed, due to the fall. I then took a very small jewelers screwdriver and placed it in position to carefully "pry" the movable mechanism that the heads are mounted on in the direction towards the middle of the drive. With very little effort, the head assemble "popped" and appeared to be in a more normal position. I then powered on the camera and observed the head assembly. They indexed normally as they should. I was confident that all was well. I careful reassembled the drive, re-verified that none of the cables had come loose while I was working on the various pieces, and then reassembled the camera. Now for the ultimate test, I took a picture...and it worked perfectly, just as it had prior to the fall. I am confident that if you have a mechanical ability, comfortable with working on small parts and pieces, and have good eye site (a must), you can also try this fix.
  
  Disclaimer---I am providing this information only as a description of what I experienced and the processes I took to resolve the problem, and am in no way responsible for any problem or further damage you may cause if you attempt to follow these instructions without the proper materials, methods or ability. I am not a Sony repair technician, just a PC Repair Tech, who is not afraid to explore when there is nothing to loose. This post in no way implies that this "fix" will resolve all C:13:01 error messages. It just fixed mine.

  I had the problem. Simply using setup on your camera and formating it will solve the problem. Very simple.

    I tried to format using the setup but FORMAT menu is gray out and says 'NOT READY' Is anything else to be done which i am missing?

  I had this bloody error message on my cybershot DSC-S80 after i had installed a 512Mb magic gate memory stick pro. Initially i was cursing the bandit who had sold it to me on ebay but after doing a google search for the error message i found this website. I was unable to format my memory stick as it was not recognised by the camera. When i connected the camera to my pc via usb with the stick installed again the PC did not recognise the camera. With the memory stick removed however the camera was recognised via usb. I was about to phone Sony and kick off when i read about squeezing the memory stick and rubbing the contacts. I decided to give it a go and when i stuck it back in the camera the error went immediately. Don't ask me why, a gentle squeeze and a rub of the gold contacts seems to have worked. Now when i connect the camera to my pc with card installed it is recognised. I have since formatted the card for good measure.
