I bought my JVC GR-DVL160EG 2nd hand and it displayed the E03 failure. The previous owmner had placed the tape upside down, which gave now this failure. I discovered that the problem disappeared after shortcutting the sensor. That is by shortcutting the first two lines of the flat cable at the bottom, marked with CN572. These lines are facing to you, on the outside. I did not make the shortcut in the cable but just by putting a very little bit of solder between the two first connections on the print. Not a very good solution, but it worked. Do it AT YOUR OWN RISK! Tip: first try to see if it works by touching and shortcutting the two lines with a metal pin like a small screwdriver or pincet.

Got my camcorder fixed by JVC so it no longer displays the "LENS CAP ON" error but now it is displaying "PAUSED DUE TO CONDENSATION" or something similar. Have cleaned the sensor with Q tip and alchol and done a hardware reboot by opening it and pulling the plug from the motherboard - ANY HELP or Suggestions appreciated
