    Same with my camera but I just talked to someone who says it may be oxidation which requires cleaning and possible saudering.

  I have a JVC GR-DVF31. I am getting the Error Code of E04 and would like to know what the code means, what type of repair is required, and the approximate cost of this repair? Are there any options I can do to fix the camcorder?

    i put a new battery in and plugged my camera in directly to the charges and i still get the e04 message

    Hi; I hope this help you. Recharge the batt, then as soon you turn the camera on, before the "E04" appears eject the tape, after that the camera works normal. Is possible that the tape is no good and may tahat teh reason teh acmera works in "safe mode". I was trying too many things and, only this one works. Good Luck.

  My JVC camcorder (model number GR-DVL512U) always has the "E04 Remove and Reattach Battery/Unit in Safe Guard mode" message. I've had this professionaly fixed once, but the problem soon came back. Is there anything I can do, or is the camera just bad?
