M Ryalls - 21st Nov 2004 14:14 Re JVC GR-DV X4 Upon inserting a tape the machine makes an unusual whirring sound and error message E04 comes up. Prior to this I sometimes found the playback image would be in part colour pixellated with part of the image as a still image with the rest of the picture playing normally but obscured in part by the pixellation and still image.

Craig Benson - 25th Oct 2005 4:42 I have a JVC GR-DVF31U digital camcorder and I had received E04 errors several times and have heard some noises and experienced pixelation. I was wondering if cleaning the heads could help this, but I would expect things to get continuously worse instead of being intermittent. Recently I lost the picture, so I need to decide whether to fix this camera or try to buy a new one. If you have further information on your problem, I would appreciate hearing about it.

M Ryalls - 21st Nov 2004 14:52 Re JVC GRDVX4 E04. I've just had a probe inside the machine and a white spindle which pulls the tape around the head seemed to be moving very stiffly. I gave it a few gentle pushes and pulls and lo and behold the machine now seems to work but not sure for how long.
- Re[3]: JVC error codes assistance: Thanks
Breum - 29th Jun 2005 20:27 Thanks a lot, I had excately the same problem e04 with JVC "gr-dvf 21". I pushed the different sticks around and then it worked. Don't think it was the white one though.

Unknown - 29th Nov 2004 23:12 Try this step by step:
Remove any tape in the unit. Then power the unit off. Remove and re-attach the power source (DC or Battery). Then power it on and try a "NEW JVC TAPE". See if the problem goes away. If not, call (800) 252-5722 and speak to JVC Customer Care to see if they can do anything for you.
