The GR-DVL520U and the GR-D30U have completely different mechanisms but the code is the same, E01 is a loading error, it can be caused by both mechanical and electrical issues. I am a technician that has repaired both models and others made by JVC. The codes that come up are to point the technician in the right general direction. An example of this is your E01 code, E01 is a loading error, it could be bent, jammed, or damaged mechanical parts, sand in the worm gear on the loading motor, a bad loading motor, poor electrical connection on the loading motor, bad driver IC, bad control IC, problem with the mode switch, and the list goes on. So you can see that E01 and other codes are not as simple as it seems on the surface.

hi i solved e01 err [well in this instance anyway- unless there is still a prob with motor drvr's etc.] try split the case into its 2 halves reassemble -- err msg gone -power or gnd link at front of case lower down is split and rejoined by the above procedure - perhaps this causes the s/w reset.

I have a JVC 35" TV which had been working fine. Out of the blue the picture went to a single bright line across the center of the TV running horizontally. If you smack the TV on the casing, the picture is seen but then immediately reverts back to the single line. Help!!

I have a GR-D90U and it was working untill I plugged it into a universal power supply. The camcorder uses 11v and once i plugged it into the power supply (dumb idea, it did seem dumb at the moment) it went dead and now will not come on. When I tested the power supply with a volt meter it was putting out 15v no matter what the setting was. Was wanting to know if they have a fuse or something to keep it from frying the board. any help would be great. just dont tell me that I am stuppid I already know that.

I read down the list further and I did the same exact thing that Mark Dienes did. Can you help us in any way?

yeah, mark, that was really stupid of you not to test the output of the powersullpy first. but all hope is not lost. yes, there is a fuse and it can be replaced and no, your board is not fried.

hi, I have a GR-DVL520U and it simply will not turn on. i know of another person with the same problem and he said he sent it in and they replaced the fuse. I have a feeling that is all i need to do. Is there any way I can do this on my own?
