How do i program the radio stations on my JVC UX-C7 6-cd changer stereo?

    • Re: Re: JVC service or questions Mikey P - 11th Oct 2004 17:56
Actually, I'm not sure you can. You can only set it to "autochannel" or whatever and this gives you maybe 20 stations automaticly whether you want them or not. Could be wrong. I've had this system for over 8(?) years now and rarely use the radio anymore.

Model: TV-20F242. Serial: 1550. No on-screen display at all. Remote functions such as volume control and channel selection work, but do not display on screen.Menu can not be seen on screen and VCR can not be programmed because of lack of on-screen display. Picture and sound are good and work on all channels though new channels can not be added because of no on-screen display. TV is on cable. I have unplugged the unit and left it unplugged for an hour before plugging power cord in again. But this does not help.

I had the same problem after entering the service mode menus and accidentially changing an option labeled "OSC", which I must assume means On-Screen Control. Literally everything seems to work (including the actual menus), but nothing is displayed. I would love to know if you ever solved this!!!

I have a JVC t.v. model AV-27230. The problem is that there a series of white horizontal lines that run across the top of the screen. They take up a quarter of the screen and they are always there even when watching a DVD or Playing a video game. Any advice on what the problem is....I just want to know if it is worht it to fix it?

I have this same set and a similar problem. I have 2 very thin white bars, each about about and inch or two wide in the upper left corner of the screen when watching cable or a dvd. I thought it might be interference from my center speaker, but if that were the case then there should be these bars when on a blue screen for a video input. I also tried unplugging the coax cable because I thought it may have been a bad line, but with no cable coming in there are still the bars when watching a dvd. Anybody know how to get into the service menu to maybe shift the image slightly up to eliminate the problem?

I have the same issue with my JVC television... white, horizontal lines.. any solution ? Too bad JVC denies any knowledge of this issue, I have called and they maintain they know nothing of it.. LIARS.

I had the same problem with mine. I changed C424 capacitor, 100uf, 35volts and it solved the problem. It is a 49 cents part here in Canada. Too bad JVC wont acknowledge the problem which seems to start at about 2 years of service. My next TV will not be a JVC. Hope thid is of help. Guy

Ok, the situation has now deteriorated to exactly what Richard describes. When I turn the tv on, the top quarter of my screen has thin white lines that go all the way across. After the tv is left on for a while, it slowly diminishes so that only the top 5th or 6th of the screen has these thin white lines. This problem is apparent on every video setting (video 1, video 2, video 3, and tv). Once again, the model is JVC AV-27230. I would REALLY appreciate some help.

I'll tell you what, I have talked to about 3 other owners of JVC 27 inch sets, and they have all experienced the same problem after a couple years or so. One of the owners told me he had it repaired and it works fine now - the problem is supposedly a faulty tv tuner. I am thinking of getting mine repaired, but if it costs more than $50, I'm better off just buying a new tv. I contacted JVC with this issue and explained to them the problem and that it is very common. I asked if there was any way they would fix it for free or re-emberse my repair costs and they told me no because they have never heard of such a problem. Frankly, I'm pretty upset and I definitely won't be buying any more JVC products.

I called JVC yet again and they still deny the problem is their fault because they haven't heard any complaints about it. We have about 8 people here who are experiencing this problem - if we each were to call JVC and complain about it, PERHAPS they might be willing to fix it for free. Hey - room in the club for one more 27" JVC owner with horizontal white lines across the top of the screen. Problem started with just a couple now up to about four inches of the screen. Doesn't sound promising.

I started having this problem a few months ago and it's slowly gotten worse, now it's to the point where I have 4 lines covering about 1/5th of the screen. I called JVC and they basically told me they didn't care about it and that this was the first time they had heard anything about it. Which is about par for the course with pretty much any manufacturer these days, so I wasn't suprised. Guess It's time to find a new TV.

Add me to the list. My JVC 27" is exhibiting the exact same white lines at the top 20%. I will complain to JVC to add my 2 cents worth. Has anyone had it repaired? If so how much? and what was the stated cause? Regards, Paul

Add me to the JVC white lines across the top of the screen gang. A smart fellow who used to repair TV's guessed that the problem might be The filter capacitor on the 25-28 VDC supply to the vertical IC is failing. As it gets warmer, its value increases, resulting in the improvement you describe. Eventually the vertical deflection IC will fail in this situation, resulting in a single white line across the middle of the screen. He didn't think it would be too expensive to repair, but didn't guess at a dollar amount. Mike

I found a site with repair tips. The tips cost $, the symptoms list is free. Natch. :) It's http://www.euras.com/repair_tips_1/Jvc/Jvc_6.htm I checked our friend, the AV 27230. For all models of the 27230 listed, the white line problem was Symptom number two. I checked five other models (27260, 27850, etc.) and none of them listed the white lines problem. Pretty good evidence that the component causing the problem was often defective in the 27230, and that the feeling expressed here, that it _is_ a manufacturer's problem, is accurate. Mike

Well, I have the same problem, a series of white lines across the top portion of the screen with a hint of Mirrored images behind those lines. What is so unusual, I have 3 TV's doing the same thing! There are 5 JVC AV-27230 TV's in a Sports Bar, the first two are ok, but the next 3, all have those white lines at the top of the screen. I swaped them around to see if a external cable problem, but the problem remains to those particular sets. labled in the rear of those sets, it indicates they were manufactured in November 2001. With Football season days away, these sets are sceduled for the Bone Yard, because have been running for 4 years, 7 days week, 17 hrs per day! Thats 25,000 hrs on each set. I think I'll pull an Ebanezer tomorrow, and bring one in for repair estimate before replacing all three of 'em. would like to Squeeze 1 more year out of 'em, before replacing them all with 37 " LCD Flat Screens.

Man thanks for the great thread - I had the white lines with reflections in the upper part of my screen as well and I changed out the capacitor mentioned. It worked like a charm and the part cost $1.30 from Radio Shack. BTW, I don't know anything about electronics and just decided I had nothing to lose by giving it a try. Thanks

I have a GR-DVL920U which is displaying a high number of dropouts and banding. I have used a cleaning tape and TFE which have improved the quality somewhat, but still get a "Head Cleaning" error. Do I need to send it out for service/cleaning? I am using JVC Tapes.

Did you manage to figure out what the problem was with the JVC GR-D30U? Ours is a little older than a year but we\'re having the same problem: now when you switch it on, it doesn\'t start up at all. We know it\'s not a battery issue because we\'ve tried the battery on other functioning GR-D30Us in the lab. I was hoping someone may have passed some useful information on to you. Thanks jeff
