Helpful - 18th Jun 2005 7:09 If your product was purchased new and still within the 1 year warranty, get a copy of your proof of purchase and ship it to your nearest factory service center. You can find a list of Factory Centers in your owners manual or on line at JVC.com > service and support > locate factory service. If your stereo is out of your 1 year warranty then you need to figure out if you wish to have it evaluated for the $50 evaluation fee (add tax/shipping) to see what is wrong. I believe it is $75 for an hour flat rate plus parts if needed. IF you only paid a little over $100 for the product originally, I would not recommend service if you can purchase new for around that much. Stereo's very in price from a little over $100 to sevaral hundred's of dollars at most retailers.

My JVC-JY-HD10U is exhibiting the EO3 error whenever I insert a tape.
The unit first displayed this erro when video taping outside in humid/hot conditions after about an hour of shooting.

Rick Reid - 8th Jun 2005 12:25 I have a JVC dvx 48 digital video camera. I am a novice on computers, I have a computer to burn dvd's but cant understand how to get up and running. I have got the software downloaded, that come with the camera. I use windows XP and a friend said there would probably be some other software handy but I am stuck. What do I need to do next( this has been a timeconsuming process up to this point but would appreciate a point in the right direction, thanks Rick.

Egbuna - 8th Jun 2005 13:44 I can no longer record on my Cam coder nor play recorded DV cassettes.
IT reads
E03 UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE
EJECT AND RE-INSERT TAPE.
After re-inserting the tape it goes back to the error mode as above. I have had to remove the camera battery for over 2 hrs and after restarting the Camcoder it still reads the same error massage.
Please advice me on what to do.
Enjoyed your product.
Egbuna

Helpful - 18th Jun 2005 6:24 Question: Do you keep trying to use the same tape when you re-insert the tape. If you do, reset the camcorder properly and try a new JVC or even Panasonic tape if you can get one. Reset procedure below:
* Remove tape from camcorder
* close up the camcorder and power it down
* remove the power source (battery or DC cord)
* replace the power source and power up the camcorder
* try a NEW JVC or Panasonic tape.
IF the camcorder accepts the new tape---then the previous tape may have had a mechanical problem within itself. NOTE: tapes also have internal mechanical parts. If the tapes mechanism is having a problem, it will not run properly within the camcorder. IF a tape is not being accepted into the camcorder or has been having a problem running in the camcorder, DO NOT continue trying to use it. Doing so may result in the tape jamming in the camcorder or a malfunction can occur causing error codes to engage. When error codes engage, the camcorder will go into "SafeGuard Mode" and shut down.

Hans Buijserd - 23rd Sep 2007 14:50 I bought my JVC GR-DVL160EG 2nd hand and it displayed the E03 failure. The previous owmner had placed the tape upside down, which gave now this failure. I discovered that the problem disappeared after shortcutting the sensor. That is by shortcutting the first two lines of the flat cable at the bottom, marked with CN572. These lines are facing to you, on the outside. I did not make the shortcut in the cable but just by putting a very little bit of solder between the two first connections on the print. Not a very good solution, but it worked. Do it AT YOUR OWN RISK! Tip: first try to see if it works by touching and shortcutting the two lines with a metal pin like a small screwdriver or pincet.

How did you fix it? I'm getting a E07 error. "Remove & Reattach Battery - Unit in safeguard mode" It will not reset. Any suggestion? Thanks
