Michael Poulter - 14th Oct 2005 18:06 Stacey,
I have a GR-D91U, and it suddenly stopped working and went into Safegaurd mode. Unfortunatley, it stopped there with the tape loading carriage out.
We have had the unit checked by a repair shop, and they said that the cassette loading carriage assembly was bent and that the unit was not worth fixing.
I don't know if I completely trust their assesment. He said he disassembled the unit, but I found NO exidence of this. And, after hours of studying the unit, have found NO exidence of a bent carriage. But, even though I am mechanically compentant (IMHO), I am not a trained tech, so my opinion may not be valid.
The behavior I have seen in my camcorder seems to resemble a lot of behavior on this board.
Is there anything you can reccomend? Is there a place to get hold of the repair manual for this unit?

My GR-D91U will not take a tape and it started saying condensation a few weeks ago. It won't do anything now. I am afraid if I take it to be repaired it would be better just to buy a new one?
NOT A JVC EVER AGAIN!!!

kathleen zane - 14th Oct 2005 18:16 I just e-mailed customer support on the JVC America. My problem is with digital video camera purchased ca.12/25/2003. Model#GR-D30US; Serial#068t0946. I paid $249.29 on 7/25/05 for repair of error message--Warning mode--condensation shows. Due to my husband's sudden death, I have only used the unit on 10/12/05 indoors and again today 10/14 indoors. The unit has been in climate controlled house or museum, never left in car or any other place where it could be exposed to moisture--but it doesn't work AGAIN! I cannot afford to pay for the shipping @$20 each way, plus labor $150--even though the parts are still under warrenty until 10/25. Can you help me? I am extremely upset that I can't even use the unit to download the last videos of my husband. Kathi

kathleen - 19th Nov 2005 22:45 Josh--not that I know of--it depends on how severe the moisture problem is. Did you leave your camera anywhere it could get moisture? If not, let it sit for a few days, try a different tape--and GOOD LUCK!

I have a JVC GR-D30U camcorder showing the E04 error code. The tape will not eject. Even if I disconnect it from it's power source for 30 mins and then try to eject it will not. What can I do?

Hi There; I have a JVC GR-DVL 805 camcorder which is about 4 years old. It receives regular(approximately annually) servicing, and has provided sterling service until recently. At present, it intermittently displays a "E04- unit in safeguard mode" error message, with instructions to remove and reattach battery. (I'm sure I'm telling you information with which you are quite familiar, but anyways...) The camcorder went in to our JVC dealer for servicing, but returned with the same problem, but only more frequent in occurrence. It now occurs 60% of the times the machine is turned on. Any information or assistance you could provide would be most appreciated. Thanks; Dave Fraser Kenora, Ontario, Canada

I had the same problem with mine. Several visits to JVC UK, and it still had the same problem.
I was in Canada and went to JVC Canada in Toronto. They found the simplest answer was to change the motherboard. It has worked fine ever since.

Cleveland - 17th Oct 2005 2:35 Hi Stacy,
I have a JVC mini dv camcorder model# GR-D90US. Everything works, but I do not receive a picture(view-finder nor LCD windows). When I switch to the modes, Manual/Auto, it says lens cap is on when there's no cap on the lens. What's your opinion?

Greg Keene - 17th Oct 2005 3:51 I have an GR-AXM230 that is a few years old now. My problem is similar to everyone elses. When I switch my camcorder on, I get the E03 "Unit in Safeguard Mode". It comes up instantly every time I switch it on. I, however, do not have a problem with the tape ejecting. That part works fine. Can you help?? Thanks Greg

Taavi - 17th Oct 2005 8:01 Stacey, can you advise on a "lens cap " error message on JVC GR-D20 camcorder approx 24 months old. error message goes away after about 5 flashes or so, then it just has a black screen. Play back works fine, only black when in record mode. Record sound fine, but no image. Please help.

Pam - 11th Dec 2005 20:22 Searching this forum I found a post that indicated that JVC was repairing this problem NC even if the warranty period had expired on certain models. Follow this link for more info.
http://www.pechorin.com/m/2005/10/12/Re_Lens_Cap_error_repair_under_warranty_by_JVC-247118.html
I called today, a Sunday, got the authorization to send mine back. I pay shipping to the repair center, 10 day turnaround and they ship back to me Fed Ex 2nd day.
Good luck!
