This has started happening to my CD-500. Its till under warrenty as well. I bought it in Australia, I'm now in the UK, and the Sony Centre has told me I need to get it repaired under warrenty in Australia. I'm REALLY pi**ed. The camera can't access a disc when the door has been opened then closed - it wants to Initialise the disc again. Now it has started giving this error every time I take a 5 megapixel photo. What really annoys me the camera is only 9 months old. I owned a CD-400 and it worked perfectly for 4 years .. until it was stolen. Any advice? Anyone else have this problem?

I used Badcopy copy to recover photos lost usung my new sony T9 and sandisk 2gig card. It cost $39.50, but the pictures of my mongolia Motorcyle trip were priceless. I will never buy a Sandisk product again! http://www.jufsoft.com/badcopy/guide.asp

Has anyone else tried opening their camera and manually fixing it (like you see in the posts above)? For what camera models? How was it?

I purchased a Sony FD100 Digital Camera, the first time I tried to use a memory stick I got the C:13:01 error. After lots of research I was able to identify and correct the problem. The Sony Camera's can not read large memory sticks(200 MB and higher). They will however read 128 MB and lower. I just tried a 128 MB Memory Stick and everthing works perfect now. Try a smaller memory stick and your problem will probally go away.

After having formatted the memory stick with the cardreader on my laptop which runs on winxp I tried to use the stick in my sony dsc-p5 but all I got was the C:13:01 error message. So I tried to format it again but eith FAT instead of FAT32 which is the regular format on winxp. Now the disc adapter which I use on my desctop to read the memory sticks worked again with the stickt, my camara still gave me the message of not being able to read the stick so I removed the stick, got into the setup mode, reinserted the stick and formatted it with the camara. This worked, I hope this can help you.

Hi All! I was shocked with the amount of people complaining about this error with no solutions. I have solved mine the rather hard way. If you are interested I'm reposting 3 posts I made over here: http://www.camerahacker.com/Forums/DisplayComments.php?file=Digital%20Camera/Sony/Sony_DSC-P41_C.13.01_main_circuit_board_problem.html The next 3 posts will be the ones from the other forum.. I had to break it up to get it to post.
