I have a DSC-T1 model Sony camera, and I am having a similar problem with the format error. I even tried to reformat the memory stick, but it did not even allow me to reformat it. Any tips?

I had ths same issue not only with the HP 1315, but with a card reader I have installed on my other PC. Best Buy now tells me that the Sony Memory Stick Pro is NOT compatible with older printers with card readers or older standalone card readers. GO SONY ! ! !

    Dear Hynes

    Thank you for your e-mail.

I am sorry to hear about the problems with your Memory Stick and the error
    message you are receiving.

It sounds as if the Memory Stick has been corrupted. This will mean the
camera will now not be able to read the file structure, hence the error
message. This does not mean the photos are lost though. You will need to
either contact a data recovery company (this is not a service that Sony
offer directly) or get some data recovery software. This sort of software is
widely available and you may even find free downloads if you search the
internet using the www.google.co.uk site with "Data Recovery Programs" in
    the search box.

I am sorry we are not able to assist directly on this occasion but I hope
this information is of some use to you.

    With regards

Yes, I have the same problem! Sandisk 256 mb, with the Sony DSC P73 though...it used to work perfectly, but now it says "access error" and my computer won't recognize my camera when it's attached!

I have had my camera for about 2 weeks and it was working fine with the memory stick, but tonight i tried to turn my camera on and it said access. The computer wont recognize the camera with the memory stick in it.
