I got the same C:13:01 error with "Access" on the screen of my new DSC-T9 Sony camera. I have used the camera and this Memory Stick Pro Duo 1Gb before so I don't know what happened. The problem is that it happened on my vacation to California and all the pictures from my trip were on that card. I am so mad. I never want to buy a Sony camera again. I had an Olympus digital for 3 years and never had a single problem with it.

I also have a Mavica FD81 and I'm getting the same error. Someone posted and said that it was a faulty floppy drive. Is there anyway to replace it? If there is, what is the part number for it?

For the Record I bought a Sony P-120 and decided to complement it with a 1GB memory stick from Sandisk - I also thought that it would be a good idea to get a memory card reader, because it would save me the hassle of using the flimsy USB connector on the bottom of the camera. I have noticed that some people mentioned that they got the dreaded C:13:01 error after entering the memory stick into a third party device such as the memory stick interface to a printer. Well I got it after I entered it into the memory card reader. This Thread has been helpful - while reading the messages, I began to see some common fixes to the C:13:01 problem: 1. Change the battery 2. Format it with the MSFMTINST210.EXE utility provided by Sony The first fix actually did work. After a long night of trying every ridiculous combination of work-arounds, I let it be overnight. Changed the battery in the morning and it worked. But not for long - which leads onto the second fix, the formatter provided by Sony. It was able to see the 32MB stick (provided with camera) from inside my camera, but not the 1GB stick - Version 2.1 of the software hasn't been modified since 11-04-2003 (might not support reading of 1GB). So I duly formatted it using windows XP (selecting the FAT option). I did this through the card reader. But in order for the reader to read the stick, the stick had to be bent at an angle in order to get a good connection with the metal connectors of the stick and reader. This is quiet telling, because I remembered that I had to force the stick into the reader on the first occasion. The metal connectors might have become displaced by this. So the only thing for it was to try and bend the connectors back into position for it to be read by the camera. This was done by lightly applying pressure with thumb( metal connectors of stick facing away from thumb). Placed it back into camera - and it worked (for about 5 mins). Took back out, applied some more pressure to the stick, put it back in and it worked. So to finish this long winded work around - DON'T PUT THE MEMORY STICK INTO A THIRD PARTY READING INTERFACE. When I decided to buy the P120, somebody warned me that if I bought a sony camera, then I couldn't avoid buying all the camera's accessories from sony. Seems they were right!

Don't try to do any repair (using hardware tools or software tools), it is just some dust collection or some sort. Blow repaetedly and play with the card switch two or three times and re-insert and switch on the camera. If you are in luck the error will vanish and ready to use it again. This is what I did inmy camera. Try it out.
