This has started happening to my CD-500. Its till under warrenty as well. I bought it in Australia, I'm now in the UK, and the Sony Centre has told me I need to get it repaired under warrenty in Australia. I'm REALLY pi**ed. The camera can't access a disc when the door has been opened then closed - it wants to Initialise the disc again. Now it has started giving this error every time I take a 5 megapixel photo. What really annoys me the camera is only 9 months old. I owned a CD-400 and it worked perfectly for 4 years .. until it was stolen.

Any advice? Anyone else have this problem?

Don't try to do any repair (using hardware tools or software tools), it is just some dust collection or some sort. Blow repaetedly and play with the card switch two or three times and re-insert and switch on the camera. If you are in luck the error will vanish and ready to use it again. This is what I did inmy camera. Try it out.

Ok, I thought hitting the camera was a joke - but after 45 minutes of looking for a solution I hit it (twice) and guess what? It works now..............

    Go SONY!
