SONY C:13:01 ERROR

I get error C:13:01 in SONY cyber short camera. PLEASE GIVER REPLY HOW TO REPAIR.

      I´ve just read your suggestions on this issue, ad had the courage to let the camera fall from the edge of my livingroom table. Well, the remedy worked at the first try. Even though I feel a tremendous relief, I won´t ever buy a Sony camera again. Thanks. JE

      My cybershot shot is like my baby so at first i was reluctant to hit it too hard but after about half an hour of constant spanking i gave it one good smack in the arse & it came perfect, no more errors & perfect focus, i couldnt believe it i was just about losing hope, especially at one point during the bashing session it actually got more broken & the lcd screen began to look warped. anyway thanx for the good advice people ive just saved myself alot of money, the technician here told me it needed a new part which would cost $200 id love to go back there & show him how to fix cameras by the bashing method. cheers

      OH. MY. GOD GEnius, thanks for the tip! I dropped my camera about 50cm from the floor last night and then it came up with the same error code. After trying everything and using the manual i was getting past myself. So after reading this i tried the bash-it-with-the-flat-of-your-hand-on-the-bottom method. Made a bit of a cracking sound but is now working perfectly!!!!! NEver laughed so much in my life thanks thanks thanks!!

    I too had this error on a DSC-P30 - having read first the $170 repare cost then the drop it or bang it solution in several forums, I opted to try the latter. I turned it off, whapped the bottom of the lense side on the heel of my palm solidly 5 times - not hard just solidly - and turned it on...no more error - works great. Made me laugh - $170 please!!

      HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I turned off the camera and did as you explained...wapped it 5 times...not HARD but solid...turned it back on and it works GREAT!!! No more error and it is focusing just fine! This is CRAZY!!! Can I have my $170 please? LOL! Larry

      CRAZY!!!!! I wouldn't have believed it but it really works when you slap it in your hand. Mine fell off the bookshelf and I couldn't get it to focus or sort out the E:61:00. 3 slaps and all fixed! Thanks

      i have a dsc-w5 and it also had e:61:00 i kept reading the forum but i didnt not indicate where to hit the camera ,i took it and bumped a couple times on my knee and turn it on and it still didnt work. i did it again pretty hard a second time and when i turned it on ...waaalaaa im a sony tech now , it works great thanks guys....

    Tried on the off-chance that I may get a remedy to my fault and happened upon this forum. I read the first message about the banging remedy and thought that it was a 'wind up'. Just tried it as I had nothing to lose and to my amazement it worked. Still stunned! Thanks Guys

    THANK YOU!!!! My camera was showing the above fault, i took the batteries out and tried everything to make it work again.... but then tried the 'spanking' technique and it worked!! LOL!! Much to the amusement of my boyfriend.. Many thanks again Star x x x x

    I followed these instructions from an earlier post on this site and it solved the E:16:00 error instantly: "I turned it off, whapped the bottom of the lense side on the heel of my palm solidly 5 times - not hard just solidly - and turned it on...no more error - works great."

    Camera was working fine then suddenly I got error message "disk type error" C:13:01. Looked in manual and did as it suggested several times. Tried several new floppies, but nothing worked. Can you please tell me how to fix it? Thank you.

  I TRIED USIN A 128 MAGICGATE MEMORY STICK IN A CAMERA AND PLAYING WITH IT LOST THE INFORMATION. NOW IT WON'T DO SQUAT.

  I had problem with my memory stick 256 MB 2x type Lexar, and the "a side" had a C:13:01 memory stick problem. So first I tried to format by using setup mode to format in a camera, but it is not allow to. Then I tried to format by window(xp) using card reader after that I format my memory stick by my camara and this time I can format it. It is work. I can use this memory stick again. My camara is S85. If you can format with your camera you might need to format by computer first.

    Hahaha... Wooohoooo!!!! thaks for all the info.... Same error -- we were going crazy . We have a cybershot DSC F717. Same C:13:01 ERROR manual says check memory stick, reformat....blah, blah. I SMACKED it 3x light on the butt, and one big SLAP. Like the bottom of the camera with my hand. It's working now!!!!
