Assistance for Error Codes

If anyone is having any kind of Error code, clean head icon or any other concern, contact me first before assuming you have a problem. My e-mail is Ssample@jvc.com.

I am knowledgeable and have helped many people past their error codes without service. Several things can cause error codes and I would be more than happy to assist you in determining if you do indeed have a problem and what options you have available.

Please refer to this site if you contact me. Thank you.

I own a sony dcr-trv20 and these are the problems.

When I open the cassette compartment, it opens, and
without a tape, it closes just fine, but when I put
the tape in and push the top down, it won't pull the
tape inside, and won't open a top of a cassete
compartment, and gives me an error code (C:31:30).

Then, I have to unplug and plug the power cord back in
to open a top of compartment. At this point it gives
me another error code (C:32:30 appears on the screen),
    but opens the top.

At the same time the screen goes black, then white,
then black again, but You still can see the flashing
eject icon on it, and hear fast beeps.

In manual, these errors are idetified as the ones that
can be easily fixed by simply unpluging and plugging
back in the power cord. I thought that Sony's Customer
Support would certainly help me with this problem over
the phone, but they were unable to.

Without a tape, the cassette compartment works fine.
Top opens, and after I push the top down (without a
tape), it pulls inside without any problem.

It just won't work with a tape in it, and the screen
goes crazy when a tape is locked inside.

Did you take your battery out as well??? I had to take my charged battery out and put it back in... If you had a charged battery present, simply unplugging the main power supply and plugging it back in probably won't work. Hope you got it working by now though...moving parts are bad...go digital.

      Sorry Ass Sony Crap
      - 23rd Aug 2007 0:33
RightyO, the power down/power up doesn't work for this error code. You have to slap the bottom (tape) side of the camcorder, then the thing is back to normal. I think Sony stuff is crap. I had a much older Sony 8mm camcorder that was a terrible piece of junk, and now this newer one, with ALMOST NO USE, is doing this potentially fatal malfunction. I recommend buying CANON camcorders, as they don't have malfunctions, they just keep working for years, without any problems. I only bought this TRV-20 piece of crap, because it was a giveaway at a flea market. Well, I'll avoid this brand from now on.

I have a Panasonic LS50 and have the H03 error code. It was playing fine, then I had a disc that was scratched and wouldn't play on anything. Now I am getting the code.

    Do you know a solution?

    Thanks.

Just had this problem and managed to fix it. I powered on WITHOUT a tape inserted. Display came up OK. Then inserted tape and all worked fine since. Don't know why, but it's fixed now. Maybe this will work in your case.

I just tried the power on without tape and it seems to work fine now, well at least it doesn't tell me to reset to operate, it just doesn't play back anything i may have taped!! So i don't know if it's recording or if it just needs chucking out!

Try cooling your camera and tapes before use - I only get these errors when on holiday (i.e somewhere hot and sunny, not like the UK!), together with a red symbol of a tape with a line through it. I hold the camera in front of the car's Aircon blowers for a few minutes and it restarts fine! I assume therefore the fault message is due to overheating and condensation.

I was wondering if you could help? I have a Panasonic DVD-RV31 player. I got the error code H03. It will not play, and doesn't sound like the dvd is spinning.

    Any advice?
