I have a JVC GR-DVL120U. The other night i was capturing video onto my computer, like i have done plenty of times in the passed. When i was finished, i turned the camera off. At that exact moment, i heard a "pssft" noise, and a tiny puff of smoke came out of the camera. I knew that wasn't something to get happy about, so i took out the battery and let it sit for a while. The next time i went to charge it, nothing happened. When i try to turn it on, nothing happens. I dont know much about electronics, and i just want to find out what happened, and whether or not it is a fixable issue. Any ideas?

I have a JVC mini DV model #GRD30U. I am unable to charge the battery. I have bought a new battery and charger and it still doesn't work. When in Off/charge mode the it first makes a beep then the red light continues to flash. Works fine when plugged in and on. I would appreciate any help, Thanks.

I have a JVC GR-D22U mini dv camcorder.
Unfortunately it is a year and a half old so not under warranty any longer.
I am getting the "Lens Cap" message although the lens cap is off.
The camera is like new, but I don't want to pay big bucks to fix it, as cost is prohibitive since I could get another unit instead of shelling out more money on a bad model.

Is there any way to get around this error message?
I am willing to open it up myself.
Is there any way for me to get a new ccd and install myself?

I have a baby coming in 1 month and need a camcorder.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi,

i also have the same problem as previuosly emailed to you.

    -------

I have problem in JVC camcorder(JVC GR-D73) purchased last Oct.
When I turn it on I only see black through the lens and/or through the screen.

It looks like the cap is still on the lens warning in automatic and manual modes however during playback it works .

Will only record sound. LCD is black with only the warning. Please tell me, what happened and how to fix it.

    ----------

    please advice

JVC GR-D30U relatively new and shows nothing but black in record mode. I believe that it is showing a lens cap error. I have searched online for assistance and finally found this. I hope you can help.

Do you really think anyone can help you? There are 261 pages of complaints on JVC camcorders, one of which is mine. Buy Sony. JVC blows at everything they build, especially customer relationships! Jim
