I fixed it. Sony Mavica CD1000 was making a grinding noise, then the dreaded C:13:01 error. I took the camera apart. Lots of little screws and small ribbon cables. I found a small piece of spring steel with a nylon tooth on it that had lost its spring. I bent the spring steel a little bit, so that the nylon tooth would engage the threaded drive rod firmly. I reassembled the camera and its works better than ever. This job is not for the faint at heart but if you are patient and have a good working light and a tiny philips screwdriver, you can fix it yourself... For anyone interested, I even photographed the problem.

My error message turned out to be a bent pin. The strange thing is, I have no idea how it could have gotten bent. I bought a 2 gb Flash Card for my cam about 3 months ago and put it in then. I have been using it non-stop since and have not removed it once. the other night, right in the middle of doing a little video of a friend of mine singing at a show, the message popped on. I was so pissed as I missed getting the rest of the show. I had a backup card, so I stuck it in there and it had the same error, i took them in and out and did everything I could and nothing. Of course, I was in the dark so I couldn't look in the card well to see the pins. After getting home, I could see the one pin bent in there. BUT HOW???

I'm replying to my own message. I read a few more pages of comments. I tried squeezing the sides of the card. It didn't help. I didn't blow condensed air into the camera, because other cards worked. I didn't drop the camera, also because it's a card issue. I twisted the card back & forth a few times, as hard as I could. It works. Can you believe it?! I'm so happy!

I have this error with my brand-new Memory Stick Duo (2 GB). My 256MB card still works with my camera, which tells me it's the card. But, my Memory Stick Duo works with my PC. Ideas? I bought the new Memory Stick when on vacation internationally , so returning it isn't an option. It did work for the first two days... I have tried the in-and-out method others have mentioned. It worked the first two times I had the error, but not since then. I tried formatting the card from my camera, but it doesn't recognize the card enough for me to do so. What else can I try? Thanks.

Wow,I thought whats the chances. I said to my partner guess what apparently if I drop this it will work. He shrugged me off probably thinking I had gone mad and viola! It worked, we have been without a camera for months now after giving up hope. Sony quoted us $550 NZ dollars to fix. Unbelieveable. I'm going to email Sony for their response to this matter after already paying about $60 just to get them to look at it and be told it would cost that much. Surely they know they are totally ripping people off! Thanks guys

Hi guys, I have fixed the error using the camera to format my memeory stick pro duo. But first I managed to recover 90% of my pictures using Imaga Rescue 3 from Lexar. Great software well done guys at Lexar.
