To fix SONY C:13:01 ERROR! Go to "SET UP" and FORMAT and OK ! Do the formatting using camera setup option and not throught computer. It should worked! Mine did!

I tried the eraser trick, but it didn't work. I found I had the same problem with another memory stick, which developed at the same time. This suggested it was the camera, not the stick. I used an air can/dust remover to blow into the card receiver area, and immediately both sticks worked.

If your using floppys and your still getting the error after you try new disks and formatting the disks..... give it about 3 or 4 swift hits on the side of the floppy drive with the palm of your hand. I read that on a post on page 1 and i just fixed my Mavica about 10min ago by doing it. Whats the worst your going to do break it.... ITS ALREADY BROKEN!

If you ever get Format Error C:13:01, simply push your card into your PC's card reader slot, select that device from My Computer with a right click, then select Properties. Go to the Tools tab and select Defrag. Mine only had around 25 shots on it and I actually had to defrag it twice, checking the results each time in the camera, but after that the problem was totally resolved. Hope this helps...

got the same error with a Lexar PRO Duo today. my other sticks work fine. With it in the camera it does not register the sony cybershot at all. therefore it is impossible to format the card. Thinking its the stick. Lexar is willing to replace it no questions asked

I have a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P31 and am now getting this C:13:01 error on one my memory sticks. I wasn't too worried about loosing my pictures because the first thing I did was took the memory stick and stuck it in one of these USB reader/adapters and downloaded my pictures by-passing the camera. Then I tried to format the memory stick from the camera, but that would not work. I still get the error. So I formatted the stick in my adapter on my desktop computer which worked fine. But the camera still tells me that I have an error C:13:01. Now I believe that something is wrong with the camera. I tried Kevin's idea of reformatting the memory stick like using this command "format F: /FS:FAT /A:8192" but that still does nothing for the error on the camera. I just thought I'd get out the memeory stick out of my Sony Clie and start using it instead of the bigger memory stick that was in my camera. Guess what, I still get the C:13:01 error. It has to be in the camera and not in the memory sticks. These memory sticks are true Sony memory sticks and not Lexar's or anything else. Are there any other ideas?

I had the same error with my DSC-f828, with several different memory sticks. I cleaned one of the sticks connectors with an eraser and tada, it works with all the sticks now. At least temporarily
