I HAVE SAME ERROR. MY CD WILL NOT SPIN UNLESS I TAP ON CAMERA, THEN AFTER A FEW SECONDS OF TRYING TO READ CD, IT STOPS SPINNING AND GIVES ERROR. DO YOU THINK YOUR FIX WILL FIX BOTH PROBLEMS?

Roger Pan - 17th Sep 2004 18:19 Whoever came up with this rapid in and out thing, thank you very much. Your method resolved my problem on my cybershot U-30. After getting the runaround from Sony support. Cheers!

Roger Pan - 18th Sep 2004 17:16 I was recently near the beach too. I am convinced that it is the contacts within my camera. Not the memory stck itself. Unfortunately, I am unable to reach the contact points within my U-30.

rachel - 18th Feb 2005 15:47 I understand that this is some sort of battery contact issue. I folded up a piece of paper and cut it to the size of the battery. Just place the paper between the battery and the battery compartment door. Worked for me! good luck!

Not for the faint of heart, but I fixed this problem by opening it up and bending all of the battery pins so they made better contact. I'm thinking that it is only the gold pins that really matter. It does however invole pretty much disassembling your camera, so don't do it if you have a warranty in force because you will invalidate it.

Simple solution *****
I have model DSC-P71 - there is a reset button on the bottom side of the camera.
Using a small toothpick depress this button and the camera will be ready for use. The only other thing you need to do is set the data and time. That's it !!

Tony - 10th Jun 2006 0:18 Thanks for the help. I had this error on my P30, so I cut a piece of paper out, and stuck it in between the battery and battery door, and it fixed the problem.

Karen - 30th Jul 2007 15:49 I just read this thread and tried pushing my battery in...and it worked....strange....but seems it is the battery that doesn't go in far enough. It fixed it for now at least! Thanx!

RK - 24th Sep 2004 3:35 Ihave DSC f717 And it started giving me this same problem! It hase nothing ot do witha memory stick! I have used 3 different once of variable capacity. No luck. I have no idea what to do. No help from sony. I am also realy upset! I wasn\'t an aggressive photographer and used it twice a week or less for an hour. So where is a reliability!? I think that instead of paying half price for repaire I\'ll just through it in the pool (i live on 11th floor). I never really liked sony and now surelly I do even less!!! I will never buy anything from them again.

it works for me except I had to unmount totally the card reader and check all the connections and make sure that the pressure on the card would me hard
- Re: Re: Re: SONY DSC-F717 C:13:01 ERROR
PJ - 3rd Jan 2005 5:40 The site http://hbar.servepics.com/~val/text/articles/f707/ TOTALLY worked for me as well and saved me tons of bucks (got to recover the photos on my memory stick as well). Be sure to have lots of patience, plenty of light and a pair of narrow-tipped tweezers to pull connections and hold the tiny screws in place. Thanks to whoever created the site!
