After a visit to the Sahara my JVC GR-DVL40E no longer works. No doubt full of sand which is causing an error message E-02. I understand that repair doubtful as repaiper unlikely to want to give guarantee.

    Any suggestions for its repair?

    Hi Stacy

I have JVC GR-D31U DV camcorder. I use to get CONDENSATION, OPERATION PAUSED PLEASE WAIT messages, but after one day and using the blow dryer it would go away. But now I have this message for 4 days and i can't get rid of it. I don't think there is any condensation in the apartment, and the camera is in the apartment more than one month. What should i do?
Should i open the camera and unplug the connector close to the rear (thumb switch) ( do a hard reset)?

    Thanks

Hi Here is the soltion to your problem. I opened the camera, take out all the screws, but make sure to make a notes where they cam from, beacuse they are not all the same size, so you don't want to mix them. After that open the camera (it will split on two parts). On the place where the main control buton is (you know (off, tape, manual and auto) there is the main conector (a plugin). Disconect it, wait for 1/2 hour and put it back again. It will do a hard reset of the camera, and the error message will be lost. You can assemble the camera back and turn it on. Everything should be OK. My camera is gr-d30U but probably everything will be same on yours. Always disconnect the battery from the camera when you are not using it, and also don't leave the tape when you are not using the camera. Also keep a lot of this small silicate gel bags in the camera bag. Hope this will help you, it helped me.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DISMANTLE OR USE ANY CLEANING SOLUTIONS INSIDE ANY JVC UNIT! If the device displays a Condensation error: 1. Open the tape compartment 2. Remove the tape 3. Keep the power ON (important) - if you do not the device "memory" will NOT clear itself 4. Wait approximately 5-10 min for the message to clear Read more below - the manufacturer is well aware of this condition and has designed these units to be "highly sensitive" to moisture build up. ============================================================================ If this device has been cooled down in a cold place and is then carried to a warm place, the moisture contained in the warm air may adhere to the head drum or tape guides and be cooled into water droplets. This phenomenon is referred to as condensation (dew). When this occurs, the head drum and tape guides are covered with droplets allowing the tape to be stuck to them, leading to tape damage. • Condensation occurs in the following cases: • When this device is suddenly moved from a cold place to a warm place. • When a room heater has just started or when this device is exposed directly to cold air from an air conditioner. • When this device is placed in a very humid place. • “CONDENSATION ON DRUM” is displayed on the LCD monitor and in the viewfinder when condensation occurs in this device. Keep the power on until the warning message disappears. If the power is turned off while the warning message is displayed, condensation may remain in the device even if the warning message is not displayed. Wait until this device is completely dry before using. • Pay attention to condensation even before the condensation indication appears. As condensation forms gradually, the condensation indication may not appear for the first 10-15 minutes after condensation has formed inside. In an extremely cold place, the condensation could freeze and turn into frost. In such a case, it takes an additional 2- 3 hours for the frost to first melt into condensation and then to be dissolved. • To prevent condensation When moving this device from one place to another where the temperatures are greatly deferent, first remove the videocassette, place this device in a tightly sealed vinyl bag, and then move it to a new environment. To ensure no condensation occurs, allow the temperature of this device in the bag to reach that of the new environment before using it.

YOu should put the video camera in the oven at the lowest setting for about a half hour. This will dry it out completely. Take the battery out and the film also before doing this. It worked for me. Make sure the oven is at it's lowest setting, mine was 170. Good luck!!

hey...i tried putting my camera in the oven and it was a complete failure. in fact, the plastic part of the cassette holder of my GR-D31U even melted a little. so i tried unscrewing all of the screws and unplugging the main connector plug. after about 30 minutes of sitting out with the plug unplugged, i assembled the camera back together and everything worked fine!!! :D

JVC CAMCORDER CONDENSATION ERROR PROBLEM I have this problem with my JVC camcorder as well. I actually took it apart and unhooked the wire that provides power to the internal memory as has been suggested. It did work, however, that wasn't necessary. And a year later I still have about 15 tiny, tiny screws which I haven't put back in place. (but it works anyway ;o) Before you try else, take the battery out and leave the unit sit overnight or longer. This should act as a "soft reset" by draining the internal battery of any power. Put the battery back in, and the message should be gone. If not, remove the battery and let it sit for 24 hours or longer. The purpose of doing this is to simulate a "soft reset" or "reboot" of your camcorder. Since JVC does not provide a "soft reset" button, draining the power from the internal battery should accomplish the same thing. I get this error after I use the camera every 2 or 3 times. And each time I remove the battery overnight and in the morning the problem is gone. I suspect the "condensation" error has nothing to do with condensation, but rather is a software bug in the camera. So, don't put your camera in an oven. Don't take it apart, Don't throw it away, or don't pawn it off to someone else on Ebay. This solution works for me and is pretty simple. Hope this helps, Brian.

One more reason why you don't want to take the camera apart to fix this error. The error will come back--it comes back for me regularly. And you'll hate to have to dismantle it each time. Instead, as I suggested, let it sit for a day without battery power. That'll fix it. Brian Jasmer

Could someone please tell me why my GR-D31 will not come apart after screw removal. It seems something is holding it near the lens.

    Hi,

I have a GR - DVL355E camcorder which keeps giving me the "E03 error message, unit in safe mode remove & re attach battery"

after several attempts the unit still fails to work, i have tried head cleaning tapes with success at first but now do not make the recorder work.

The shop i have taken it to say the "heads are no good" and £134.00 will rectify the problem.

I borrowed my dads unit which was bough from the same shop at the same time and has not shown any error messages.
changed from his tape (sony DV Premium) to my tape (panasonic me 60) and this unit now shows the error message.

I quickly put another tape in and the unit worked fine again.

Can there be a problem with some duff metal tapes i`m using, or is the message a genuine fault with the unit.
I dont want to part with any money if the shop are trying it on.

    Regards,

    Martin

I have a JVC GR-DVL505. Today, upon replacing the tape, an error message appeared... "E01 unit in safegiard mode" "remove and reattach battery". I removed and reattached the battery several time but have had no luck. There is no mechanical movement occurs. What should I do?

I have a JVC GR-DVL500U and When I turn it on to record or play, a code appears on the display screen "E04 Remove and reattach battery. Unit in safegaurd mode." I have tried to remove the battery and replace it and I have the head cleaned. Twice I have brought it in for repairs but over time the same thing comes up. Can any one tell me what causes this and how to rectify it.

    Hi!

I have an E04 error code problem with my JVC GR-DVL 100 camera. Cassette or battery removing don't help anymore. Can you tell me what E04 means ?

    Thanks !
