  I had the exact same problem and your solution was number 1 for "sony camera white screen". You had me fixed 15 minutes after I discovered the problem. AMAZING fix. Didn't think it would work, but it did. Thanks for posting it!!

  Wow cant thank you enough. When it would go to white screen I would do the Normal get mad and hit it against my palm and that worked for awhile as the screen would come back on but then that didnt work after awhile either. I was about to give up to but now this just worked out great! And first time as well. So question? Why Does this Work? Whats behind the Loco that trips the screen back on? And will there come a time when that wont work any more either? Very Curious. Thank you again

  This is so ridiculous, and amazing at the same time! I am an engineer and technician and have worked on stuff in the past. To tell you the truth i thought this had about 0.00001% chance of working. But it did haha, this is incredible. I guess you should have an idea of how cool this fix is :-) Keep it up Bob, share the knowledge.

  Last week my screen developed white lines that I had to work through, just ignoring.
  
  Tonight my screen would come on clear and then immediately go to white; over and over again as I turned the camera on and off.
  
  Decided to search with the appropriate keywords and came across this post. Couldn't believe it and afraid to try in case of ruining camera further.
  
  What can I say—IT ACTUALLY WORKED, JUST AS YOU ALL SAID!
